Chapter Twenty

You wake up shivering because of the cold curled up in a ball pressed against the library wall. Sighing, you realize you can see your breath, but the sun hasn't even risen yet, so you hope it'll warm up soon.

It's finally Saturday so you don't have to go to school, thank goodness, but you still kind of miss Newt.... You grin at the thought of his name.

The library doesn't open for a couple hours so you get up, put pretty much everything away after you attempt to look decent without a mirror or anything, giving up after a couple of minutes trying to tame your hair.

The sun's almost up now, so you just start walking. The library doesn't open until ten so, you check your watch, you have about four hours to find something to do.

You end up at some McDonald's in a corner booth just sitting there, with a free water cup, since that's all they'd give you and you don't have any money.

The workers keep glancing at you, and you can tell they want you to leave, but you don't really care. The building is heated and you're cold.

Pretty soon the manager comes over and asks if you're okay and if you need anything.

"No, I'm okay." You say, hoping he'll leave you alone, but no such luck.

"You need to buy something..." he says, so you just shake your head, get up and walk out. Whatever. You were in there for about two hours anyway, it was about time they kicked you out. But it's still two hours until the library opens, and it's cold.

There's a Wendy's down the corner, and you figure that's as good a place as any. You can get another ice water and just wait until you can go read in the warm library that won't kick you out.

Sitting in the corner of the Wendy's, you realize that you had a book in your bag this whole time, your such an idiot. You don't have to be so bored, so you pull the book out and read, still glancing up at the clock to find the employees occasionally staring at you. As soon as it's close to ten, you head down to the library where you plan to stay for the rest of the day.
