Zane was down. Lily could see his face so clearly, like he was the only thing in the world. His blue eyes rolled in his head, and his shaking hand tried desperately to get the tree off his crumpled form. He was loosing consciousness quickly, and by the red sap seeping from between the trees, blood as well.

The person the laugh belonged to stood over Owen, as he held his shoulder to his body trying to pop it back into place. Burn marks and blisters marred his skin, and bruises were already forming.

"Drake!" Owen growled warningly.

"Owen." The dragon mocked.

She raced forward as fast as she could, moving branches and trunks away from her fallen Mate.

"Hey." He said, a drowsy smile on his face.

"What are you doing here?!" She screamed quietly.

"I couldn't let it happen, Not like this."

"Let what happen?" She asked, cold fingers stroked bruised and bloody. Geeks as she tried to sooth his obvious pain.

"Don't say goodbye, don't leave me." He murmured. A single tear left his swollen eye.

"Let's get you out of here." She murmured in concern.

"Promise me!" He wailed.

"This sword goes through your heart, and your soul will belong to me. Sunday will be mine for eternity! Darkness will be light once again!"

"I won't leave you." She said as she pulled him free.

Laying on the ground, his breath panting in painful spurts she gently touched his chest above his heart.

"I don't know what to do!" She whispered, the reality hitting her.

His eyes were closed, face peaceful and sweet.

Pain like her arm had been set on fire and poked with acid filled needles shot up her arm into her chest. She fought back a scream as the pain spread even further.

Under her watering eyes, his bruises faded, an his breath evened out. Her mind pictured organs and skin weaving back together like it had a mind of its own.

The pain left, the tears were still streaming down her face, but a smile stretched her Mates, and that was what mattered.

Danny was no where to be seen, but the battle caught her eye. It amazed her that the fate of the world rested on two boys fighting over one girl.

Owen's own weapon managed to pierce the side of the king, but the Kings sword stole though Owen'a chest as well.

Lily screamed, and shot to her feet as both boys fell. Drake backed away in agony, his face twisted, his hand leaving the sword inside his victim. He collapsed against the tree, and suddenly Danny was there, trying to treat the wound.

Lily raced for her friend, finding each step an eternity too long.

"Owen?" She whispered as she touched the sword handle.

He choked and gaged on the blood filling his mouth.

"It's going to be ok, ok?" She whispered as she stood and pulled the tip free as gently as possible. His body convulsed under her, and she dropped to her knees putting presure on the wound, and trying to focus on the pain, welcoming it.

His eyes changed, from blue, a color so peaceful and beautiful to a black so dark and sinister she felt almost afraid.

The pain shot through her, and this time she couldnt hold back her scream.

The wound closed, the indent in his skin closed, and she fisted the material of his skirt and pulled it away from the closing skin.

A strong and steady beat fell under her hand, and she let the tears fall down in silent sobs as the pain left her.

Drake stood, even as his wound bled out, and he readied for battle. Swords had changed owners, but the purpose didn't lie in the blade.

One sister must spill another's, the sacrifice will open the door to a new era of light.

It didn't matter which sister. Lily realized.

"Forgetting someone?" Danny asked.

"No?"

"Lover boy's been waiting for you." Danny snickered as she gestured to the forest.

"In the trees and bushes, the prince waits to be rescued." Danny Laughed.

"Oh, you are a bitch!" Lily screamed. She snarled, a totally animal sound before sprinting past her, and into the forest.

Why? Why like this?

Riven was in the trees alright. No, actually inside the tree. A hallow tree with one little strip open for air.

"Riven."

"Lily?"

"Yeah, hold on, I'll get you out." She said, but she questioned it.

"Get out of here! This dude has wings, and this one chick can throw fire! It's insane!" Lily looked at him.

"Yeah, let's get you out of here."

"Lily! Fire chick!" She turned around in time. Just barely.

The tree caught fire, and Riven screamed.

"Riven!" She shouted.

"Times up, sister." Danny said.
