Lily woke up the next morning with a purpose in mind. She was going to focus, and see if she could find a way to fix the problems at school.
Lily dressed in a pair of light jeans, a long sleeved red shirt and her converse. She grabbed her book bag, and walked off for school.
When she walked in the front doors, Jace strolled away from his friends and fell into step next to her.
"You ok?" He whispered.
"I always am." She told him before stopping at her locker to put the books away. She looked at her number when she shut it. The girl next to her opened her locker and screamed.
Lily jerked away covering her ears and glared at the girl who'd just burst her ear drum. "It's dead! Oh, god it's dead!" Lily peeked into the girls locker and had to fight back a scream herself.
It was a dog, the throat was slit, and a stick protruded from the stomach and out of the rear of the animal. It hung on one of the hook in the girls locker by the pink collar. The stench made her stomach churn.
"Fuck!"She screamed. The girl threw up in the trash can by the fountain down the hall.
Lily's hand shook as she reached for the animal before Owen showed his face and grabbed her wrist. "If they call the police, you don't want your finger prints on it." Lily nodded and shuddered.
"Do you guys see the flower in the fur?" She stiffened, and looked at the human.
"Are you fucking serious?" She growled. The words vibrated in her throat as she spoke.
"I see it, Lily, and it's you know, a lily."
"Fuck. What did I do? Why does he have to be threatening me?"
"Who stopped him from having his meal?" Jacen glared at Owen as he spoke.
"So?"
"How do you feel when O steal your food?" Lily glared at him.
"Exactly." She huffed a breath and groaned.
"Someone go get a teacher. I'll go talk to the girl who tossed her cookies in the trash."
Owen groaned. "Again? Why can't the human lunch bag go?"
"Because of what you just called him. Now go, Jacen come with me." Lily shooed him away and walked down the hall with the human in tow.
"You alright?" She asked, crouching to see the girls face.
"Who could do that?" Her eyes were bloodshot and tears made more tracks in her mascara.
"I sent a friend to get a teacher." Lily whispered. The girl nodded.
"Why me? What did I do?" Lily smiled gently.
"I don't know, but we will get this figured out."
"Why are you helping me?" She demanded, anger filling her. Lily smiled more.
She expected this kind of reaction.
"Because I can't imagine how this must feel, and I know it can't feel good." Lily told her.
"What is that?" Mrs. Standly screamed.
"It was in this girls locker, call the police or something." Her eyes strayed to Lily, and widened.
"Carla, go to class. We will get you a new locker, and this mess cleaned up." The girl sat up straighter.
"Your not going to try and find out who did it?" The teacher shrugged.
"It's a prank gone too far." Lily glared at the woman.
"A prank is a water balloon in the hallway. This is a threat." She stood up, and started walking toward her.
"Like I said, gone too far." Lily glared at her, and snarled wordlessly.
"You won't do anything about this?"
"What can I do, Lily?" The teacher asked, her voice cold.
There was a change in the aura of the woman, and Lily straightened. Her eyes turned cold, and she raised her chin. "Absolutely nothing, but I will."
"Don't pick fights you can't win."
"Try me." She snarled.
"Get to class." Students started filing into the hall and she closed the locker before walking to collect Carla and gently drag her out of the hall.
Lily thought over her schedule and shuddered.
History with Mr. Jabon.
Maths with Mr. Kadon
Language with Mrs. Salidon
Science with Mrs. Day
Choir with Mr. Hue
Lunch yay!
Study hall with whoever showed up.
Art with Ms. Freson
Folk Lore with Mr. Sadie
It's a fun schedule right? Not!
Lily groaned. History, really? Maybe this whole focus thing wasn't for her . .
"Get to class!" Lily jumped and watched Jace run down the hall to his class. She took a last look at the locker that hid the dog and hurried to class.
She actually made it on time for once. Lily Alexis was in the middle of something major, now just figure out how to beat it.
The end of the world was coming and she had a lot to learn. No pressure right?
