Lily stared at him silently. Her ears were ringing with his words. She could feel invisible walls shed built around herself shed never known about crack. Something was breaking and making sense, something she wasn't supposed to know.
"What?"
"I'm immortal and God created a counterpart for his followers, for companionship, love and other needs God couldn't fulfill. I've found mine in every life, but there's a catch. A curse." Lily blinked.
"What . . do you mean?"
"I chose to fall, it was my own reason, and for that God got a little pissy. He decided I needed to be punished, and so he took my soulmate."
Lily nodded, she felt her lips part, waiting for the rest.
"I'll find her, in every lifetime I'll find her, fall for her, love her. But she won't know me, she won't remember anything. And she'll be taken from me in every life until my lesson is learned."
"Taken from you how?" Lily regretted the question as soon as his eyes closed. The air changed.
"Murdered in some lives. Raped and brainwashed in others. Married and happy in some. And others she'll simply hate my guts and try to kill me." He took a deep breath. "I have to look for her, it's in my blood. But I already know how it will end when I find her. This pain is . . . unbearable."
Lily studied him carefully. Her arms itched with the need to hug him. Still there was a reserve that told her he wasn't done.
"I found her. She was back home, And we were happy. I thought I'd finally broke the curse. Dumbass."
Lily held her breath waiting. "She dumped me for another guy. She didn't know and still doesn't know that she's under a spell, and that everything he's doing was all his spell and magic."
"He's manipulating her, using her to get to me. Messing with her emotions and mind until she's completely dependent on him. I fought him, he won. He almost killed her, made her kill herself. I gave up."
A fire had started to burn in her heart. The kind of thing he was describing was horrible, but those words made the fire die. Ice filled her veins.
"You gave up?"
"What else is there? Destroy her? The world?" His eyes flashed with anger and desperation.
"I don't know! Something! You cant let him win!" Her words were filled with venom, every negative emotion Lily had been feeling while Frost wore her face.
"I've been alive for thousands of years. I've seen and done it all. Literally it all. There is nothing I can do."
"What was the lesson you need to learn?" Lily asked quickly.
"I don't know, if I did do you think I would be here?"
"What would you give up for this?" Lily asked, feeling her heart pound in anticipation.
"Absolutely everything there is." Lily nodded. Even the world.
"There is a legend that goes with it." Lily nodded.
"You want to hear it?" He asked, eyes wide and sincere.
"Yeah, now tell me."
"Yeah. . No. I'm good." Lily opened her mouth and stopped. Wait what!?
"Tell me!" She screamed.
"Maybe later. It's late, and so I'm going to head home." Lily stared after him in shock as he got in his car and left. What the hell just happened?!
"Tell me!" She snapped at his taillights. Her frustration hit new heights when his lights faded away. Oh, that ass hole was gunna get it!
