Lily stared at the board in class and tried to figure out the riddle written there. It was a poem written by one of the students, but it felt too weird not to focus on it.
Knightly cursed to roam alone, King so blessed as to rule the world, three girls stand between. One makes a sacrifice the others need. To survive the darkness bound to destroy one must spill her sisters blood to save the knight. In one moon the world will survive, only if one girl can fight her fear of the night.
"Who wrote this riddle on the board?" The English sub demanded. No one stood to claim it, and Lily blinked. No one had that beautiful of a scrawl in that class.
Lily had trouble focusing on the class and the ride home was less than interesting. It was a friday, and Danny was coming by to spend the night.
The night passed easily, Lily learned more about the girl in front of her than she ever planned to learn.
"And so, guess who had to pull the dude off the table?" Danny asked. "Yeah, me. The stupid hobo flattened the paper center piece too." Lily laughed at the comment and coughed to cover it.
"Do you think the world will end?" Danny looked at her closely.
"That night at dinner, to my mom it already has!" Lily laughed, imagining the face her mom would pull from that experience.
"God I love you Danny!" Lily laughed.
"You should!" She said back. "Love you too, Lily."
