CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR |
for good

***

KURT SHOWS UP at Jason's house two weeks later with his NYADA letter in hand. He hasn't opened it, but he's standing on Jason's doorstep with a nervous smile as his friend ushers him through the door and up to his bedroom. Kurt manages to laugh when the door opens to Sebastian in his underwear jumping to cover himself up.

"Why did you take your pants off, loser?" Jason laughs at his boyfriend as Sebastian pulls the sheet over himself and Kurt goes to join them on the bed.

Kurt rolls his eyes at Sebastian's embarrassed whining. "Not like I haven't seen you in your boxers before."

"Shut up," Sebastian grumbles. "What are you even doing here?"

Kurt groans, throwing his head back against the headboard as he shoves the letter in Sebastian's hands. "My NYADA letter. I'm too scared to open it."

"Give it here." Jason smiles, holding his hand out and taking it away from Sebastian.

Sebastian protests. "Hey! What if I wanted to open it?"

"Shut up." Jason rolls his eyes at his boyfriend as he begins tearing the envelope open. He can see Kurt start to clutch Sebastian's hand out of the corner of his eye and it makes him smile.

"Okay," Jason mumbles, his eyes scanning through the letter as he reads aloud for Kurt. "Dear Mr. Hummel, we regret to inform you—"

Jason cuts himself off seeing Kurt tense up. Sebastian winces as Kurt squeezes his hand unbelievably hard, then snatches the letter out of Jason's hand, hoping that his boyfriend is illiterate and it's not actually a rejection letter, but as his own eyes scan the page, he realizes it very much is.

"I'm so sorry, honey." Jason frowns, holding Kurt's hand tightly in his own.

Kurt takes a deep breath, shuddering as he wipes away a stray tear with the sleeve of his sweater. "I don't know why I thought—god, I'm so stupid."

"Hey, hey, no." Sebastian frowns, throwing his arms over Kurt and pulling him into his chest. "Blaine showed us your audition. You did amazing. They're the ones that fucked up letting you go."

Kurt's lips bubble up in a sob and suddenly he's crying into Sebastian's shirt and Jason is leaning over Kurt's back and hugging him from behind, kissing right behind his ear in an attempt to comfort him.

Jason sighs as he rubs circles into Kurt's back. "Just let it out, honey. Let it all out."

He's not sure how long he and Sebastian hold Kurt until he's exhausted his tears, but somewhere between when he started and now, they've all spread out on the bed. Kurt is just sniffling now, his head now buried in the crook of Jason's neck and Sebastian is scratching up and down Kurt's back.

"Don't worry, my prince. We'll figure this out. I promise." Jason says.

He can feel Kurt slightly nod against him and he kisses his forehead. Minutes later they hear tiny snores coming out of the older boy and they share a look over Kurt's sleeping figure. Sebastian entwines his fingers with Jason's over Kurt's waist and for just a moment, it feels okay. When it's just the three of them, he feels like they can take over the world. He's just not quite ready for that thought really entails.

-

A week later finds Jason and Sebastian walking down McKinley High's hallway with their hands entwined between them. Sebastian's head is in the clouds, much like it has been ever since he realized his feelings for Kurt. Helping him through his rejection and constantly comforting him this week hasn't made that any easier for him—and he can tell that Jason knows something's up, but he doesn't think he knows yet. Sebastian's trying to figure it out how to tell him.
