21. AS IF WE NEVER SAID GOODBYE

CHAPTER TWENTY |
as if we never said goodbye

JASON TAKES THE next two weeks tending to every one of Sebastian's requests. He does everything he possibly can to make his boyfriend feel as loved as possible because he knows he broke his trust. Truthfully, he's also using Sebastian as a distraction. The more time he spends worrying about his boyfriend, the less time he has to worry about dealing with Kurt and the extenuating circumstances of their kiss—if they could even call it that, Kurt didn't exactly kiss back.

They're in Sebastian's bed, afterglow on their faces, sated and relaxed. Jason never really thought of himself being all that into sex. He supposes he's always been a little more like Kurt in that regard. Jason has always romanticized love. Of course he's thought about sex. What seventeen year old boy hadn't? The difference was he didn't realized how much he'd like it until after he started having it. And being with Sebastian like this, sleepy and loose against the sheets might even be better than the act itself.

"I love you," Jason mumbles sleepily as he looks up at Sebastian from where his head is propped up on his bare chest.

Sebastian's lips turn up into a little grin. "Oh, really?"

Jason rolls his eyes. "Yes, of course I do, asshole."

"I could make a sex joke right there, but I'm not going to." Sebastian chuckles as Jason sits up and faces him.

"Good." Jason says, smacking his chest with a pillow.

"You know, you really should be nicer to me since you cheated on me." Sebastian's voice is light and joking as he says it, but it still rubs Jason the wrong way and he slumps against the headboard silently.

"Could you not?" Jason sighs, sliding his underwear back on. Intimacy doesn't feel as good when guilt is running through his veins. He knows what he did was wrong and he's trying to make up for it. He wants to be a good boyfriend for Sebastian, but he can't help but feel like the villain here.

"Baby," Sebastian trails, sitting in between his boyfriend's legs. "You know I was just joking. I forgave you, you know that. Am I a little jealous? Of course, but I trust you. What do I need to do to show you that? Kiss Kurt?"

Jason tries to glare at Sebastian, but a smile breaks through. "You are so stupid."

"You love me, actually."

Jason quirks an eyebrow. "When did I say that?"

Sebastian slaps Jason with the pillow this time, pulling the younger man into his arms and pressing a kiss to his forehead. "I love you, Jay. Don't ever forget that."

Jason hums contently. "I won't."

On the other side of town, Blaine and Kurt haven't been doing so good. Kurt hasn't even told him about the kiss with Jason and their relationship is still blowing up. He knows he needs to tell Blaine, but he just can't find the words and the timing is never right. They've been fighting constantly about his blossoming friendship with Sebastian. Blaine thinks it's inappropriate and that Sebastian is trying to steal Kurt away, but he didn't seem to have the same thoughts when it was him that Sebastian was chasing after. And anyway, Sebastian was in a committed monogamous relationship with Jason. Anything Blaine saw between them was nothing more than a couple of bros hanging out.

Kurt loves Blaine, but sometimes he feels a distinct urge to punch him in the face. He supposes that annoyance is just a guy thing. Even though he presents very feminine, sometimes the testosterone catches up to him. He wants everything with Blaine to be perfect, like it was in his head during the first few months at Dalton where he was deep in the friendzone. There, Blaine was one of his closest friends. Not nearly as close as Jason, but they were definitely friends and they cared about each other. He could dream about movie nights and drive-in kisses a billion times, but the reality was so much different.
