Just a quick one shot for TY’s bday ^^ Goal: short n fluffy ^^

Taeyeon always liked birthdays although not every single one of her birthdays had been great or memorable. She didn’t mind getting older because some of the best moments in her life happened on her birthday.

Birthdays, in general, should be a day to celebrate and be grateful for, she said, and that was also why she liked celebrating her loved ones birthdays aside from her own.

A particularly memorable birthday was her 14th birthday. It fell on the day when she was assigned to go with her father to work and write a report about it.

To this day, she still remembered how her father had let her wear the pretty dress she had been saving for the special day and promised her to celebrate twice: first during lunch and later during dinner with the whole family.

But the most memorable part of that birthday was when she met the cheerful girl who turned out to be the daughter of her father’s boss.

The girl couldn’t speak Korean properly but that didn’t discourage her from trying to communicate with Taeyeon.

It took a while but Taeyeon finally understood that Tiffany –that was the girl’s name– had just moved to Korea recently and that she went to an international school not far from Taeyeon’s school.

When lunch came, Taeyeon told her father that she’d like to invite Tiffany to her birthday lunch because Tiffany’s father was in a meeting and the girl wouldn’t have anything to do or anyone to talk to without Taeyeon there.

Her father smiled and gladly let Tiffany tag along.

Tiffany soon found out that it was Taeyeon’s birthday and loudly wished her a happy birthday. She also ordered a slice of cake and asked the waiter to put a candle on it for Taeyeon.

Taeyeon thanked Tiffany and thought that that was it until the girl showed up at her front door a few days later, holding a birthday gift neatly wrapped in pink.

They had become inseparable since then.

Although they went to different schools, Tiffany would pick Taeyeon up every morning and drop her off at her school. She had a car and a driver at her disposal so sometimes they would go home together as well or hang out at the mall after school.

Every year on Taeyeon’s birthday, Tiffany would give her a birthday card with their picture inside it.

When Taeyeon asked her why, she only smiled and said, “Memories, Taeyeon-ah. And it’s a good way to keep track of our changes too. Give the future us something to laugh at.”
