(Chapter 6)

"Fany?" Sunny waved her hand in front of Tiffany's face.

"H-huh?" Tiffany blinked, looking at her concerned friend.

"You just spaced out again." Sunny sighed. "Thinking about her?"

"Her who?" Tiffany sipped her drink, feigning nonchalance.

"Stop the act, Fany. You haven't been the same since you broke up with her."

"There was no break up. We weren't even dating," stated Tiffany flatly.

"But you two liked each other."

Tiffany didn't answer that. She had regretted her actions to some extent but she kept telling herself that Taeyeon deserved it so she could feel less guilty. The one thing that she couldn't deny was how much she missed Taeyeon. Her days had become quite empty without her.

"Even though I disagree with what you did, I must admit that there was a silver lining to that stormy cloud," Sunny suddenly spoke again.

"What do you mean?"

"I saw her the other day. She was out on a date with a girl."

"What?" Tiffany hadn't expected that. Although it had been weeks but she would've expected Taeyeon to take a bit longer before getting back out there.

Sunny nodded. "Out on their second date, apparently. I think Taeng has become braver now. She had shed that regret, most likely." She said all this while observing her friend carefully. She knew how different Tiffany had been since Taeyeon left. "She looked quite happy."

"Good for her then." Tiffany took another sip from her cup to hide her face.

Sunny sighed. "Fany-ah, why won't you just admit that you've grown to really like her too?"

Tiffany said nothing.

"I think she had really fallen for you. She could've just left and never returned since that first day she saw you at the shop."

"She was just feeling curious and guilty," Tiffany argued.

"You really believe that?"

"..."

"Sigh... Fany-ah... Come on. Enough with all this pretense. Please!"

"What do you want me to do then?!" Tiffany almost slammed the cup down. "I got what I wanted. The end. There's nothing left to talk about."

"It hurts, doesn't it?"

Tiffany looked away. It does.

"Karma's a bitch and she's not picky."

Tiffany looked at Sunny again. "What?"

"I told you not to play with people's hearts, didn't I? Now you're left with no one. You don't want him and she doesn't want you. What are you going to do now?"

Tiffany didn't know what to say. She just turned her head, looking out the window, remembering the times when she would sit there at that table, talking and laughing with Taeyeon.

"No, I just got off work." Taeyeon smiled a little as she walked out of the door with the rest of her colleagues. "What? Itaewon? Nah, let's just get samgyupsal or something. I don't really like western food." Her heart hadn't recovered from what happened a few weeks ago and the whole point of being brave enough to ask this cute girl she met at the coffee shop out was to forget that ordeal. "Okay. I'm on my way. See you." She ended the call.
