A short girl in uniform ran down the corridor, rushing to get out of the quiet building as fast as she could.

She turned a corner, skipped down the large staircase and ran towards the exercise field where another girl was sitting under a tree at the corner of the large area, absentmindedly kicking stones with her foot as she waited.

“Fany-ah!”

The sitting girl looked up when she heard the voice and shook her head at the running girl.

“Sorry!” Taeyeon came to stop in front of her friend, bending down to catch her breath.

“Let me guess, you got detention again?” Tiffany asked, standing up from her seat.

“Stupid jerk,” mumbled the girl who was still out of breath.

“What did he do this time?” Tiffany began walking towards the gate.

“He kept hitting the back of my head with paper balls! When I finally threw one back, Mr. Kim saw me and…” Taeyeon heaved a sigh as she caught up with Tiffany, walking alongside her. “That dumb jerk.”

“He likes you.”

Taeyeon gasped. “Ew! No way!” she exclaimed, staring at her best friend with shock and utter disgust. “No freaking way! I’d rather die alone than be anywhere near that annoying as-…”

“Hush! Careful! You don’t want to go back to detention, do you?” Tiffany shushed her friend. “‘Cause I’m not gonna wait for you this time, Taetae.”

“You shouldn’t have waited for me anyway, Fany.”

The girl shrugged and kept walking towards the bus stop. “Wanna go get something to eat?”

“Okay. I’m buying since you waited for me.”

“Of course!”

They stood side by side, waiting for the bus that would take them downtown.

“You really shouldn’t have waited,” Taeyeon suddenly broke the silence, making Tiffany turn her head. “You always wait for me. You don’t have to, you know. I get in trouble way too many times for my own good.”

“If you know that then why don’t you keep yourself out of trouble?”

“Most of it is just bad luck. It’s not like I want to get in trouble,” Taeyeon defended herself and watched Tiffany shake her head. “I’m serious though. You don’t have to wait for me next time, Fany.”
