"Fany-ah..."

"Hm?" answers the woman lying on the bed, her focus still completely on her phone and the photo collage she's working on.

"I'm going back to my room," says the older woman as she grabs her bag and heads towards the door. "Let me know if you're going out later."

"Okay," mumbles Tiffany absentmindedly.

Once she feels happy with the result of her work, she types the caption and posts it on her social media account.

Although she has congratulated her best friend personally at the group chat they share with their close friends and in their private one-to-one chat, she wants to post a congratulatory birthday message for all to see.

She feels guilty for not being able to be there with her best friend for her birthday but she's been assigned on a weeklong trip to Paris and she couldn't say no even if she wanted to.

When Taeyeon found out, she told her to go for it and to have fun. After all, such opportunity rarely presents itself so according to her, Tiffany must quickly grab it and just say yes to her boss.

So off she went to report on one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world with a colleague and a team of photographers and stylists because they would also be doing a photo shoot while they're there—with a young celebrity as the model.

Today's shoot is done and there's no fashion show to attend so after another quick round of sightseeing, the group returned to the hotel to rest before dinner.

She's feeling great and satisfied after her birthday post and is about to put her phone aside when she decides to check her account on another social media app, scrolling through the endless birthday wishes for her best friend.

Being friends with someone famous sometimes makes her feel insecure and hard to stand out but luckily, Taeyeon never fails to remind her how special she is through her ever caring gestures and actions.

Her thumb stops scrolling when she sees a particular post. It's from a junior of Taeyeon's, a fellow singer who's been very open about her fondness of the blonde.

Brows now knitted and lips pouted, she taps the post to get a better look at it and nearly gasps when she sees the girl's cute profile picture which is a cartoon drawing of the singer and Taeyeon.

Suddenly she wishes that she had posted something more elaborate or heartfelt but then she realizes that there's no use. She's not famous, she doesn't have many followers although there are celebrities that follow her—simply because they know each other or have worked together—and Taeyeon doesn't even know how she feels towards her.

Above all, it's super childish. There is no competition. Taeyeon has told her that the girl is just an admirer and it's the truth since she has checked with the girl's stylist and manager whom she happens to know—and her brain is telling her to forget about it but the flicker of jealousy in her heart can't be subdued that easily.

With a defeated sigh, she tosses the phone aside and closes her eyes.

She's pretty, talented and much younger than me. They share the same passion for music, they know each other's world very well... They're perfect for each other.

Maybe I should tell her how I feel. But what good would it do? I'm not even sure she feels the same way. And if, by some miracle, it turns out that she does, we can't date. Not openly, at least.
