Do things your way. I'll do things mine.

I wanted to stay with her all night. It was hard leaving, but we both knew it was a good idea. I wasn't going to make a mistake this time. I wanted to do things right. In order to do that, I need to take care of loose ends.

Which is why I'm currently standing in front of Mila's door. I've called her five times, rang the bell seven times and knocked on the door six times. She still hasn't come to open the door. I've only been here ten minutes, but there's something gnawing at me.

So, I do what I've always done when I was dating her. I entered her room by using the big boulder in the backyard. I jump from the boulder and grab onto the iron ladder and climb up over the fence on the second level. It had become second hand nature.

If she hasn't removed the extra key yet, it should still be located just to the left of the French doors that lead to her room. I find the key, but before I slide it into the slot Mila comes into view. Her body is laying on the floor without any movement.

Quickly, I unlock the door and run over to her. I place her on her back only to see a gash on the side of her forehead. I look around to see what she must've hit. There's a trunk at the end of her bed and just a small spill of blood on it.

"Mila! Wake up!" I yell. No answer.

I pull out my phone and dial the emergency line. Her body is limp as I place her in a better position. Slowly, I pull a few strands of hair out from her face. The lady on the line asks me, my name, the reason and where I am. I answer everything and give her a bit more information.

After her instructions she tells me help is on the way and that it wouldn't take long. I mute her as she tells me to keep me on the line and use the time I have to find the one thing I came here for.

Kagami said that Lexi found the USB in one of Mila's hiding spots. Though, it wouldn't be in the same place if she knew Lexi got to it. As much as I'd like to thank Lexi for not sharing my information with everyone, I'm still shocked she showed Kagami.

I searched in the areas Lexi told me and finally I found the USB Mila has been keeping to herself this whole time. My eyes slide over to see her motionless body lying there. She looks at peace. She looks more like herself. Less of a nuisance.

My plan was to speak with her and get the USB. My plan was to see that she was okay even though it hurt her to know I didn't want to be with her. She was concerned that day she pulled me down into the basement.

She looked unhinged and the demands she made were ridiculous. Stay with me and I'll do anything you want. Stay with me and tell them they're wrong. Just stay with me. She pleaded on her knees.

Mila never looked so small. Even as I stared down at her begging, I couldn't get over how she used my mother's story to ruin me. Ruin us. Ruin everything I worked so hard to stay away from.

Mila never asked about my father. She never asked what this meant to me. She never tried to understand that this was going beyond betrayal. This was a life altering event and Mila just rolled the die for fun.

Throughout my life, my mother has always been my hero. She was the trophy I saw encased in glass that looked pristine. I wanted nothing and no one to ruin that. She is supposed to stay that way.

Years ago I made that mistake to let Logan in. He saw too much and even learned too much. He found everything and tried to exploit it. He hated that I became a hero, he hated that I was better. Honestly, I hated him from the start. I never acted on that hate. Not until Alyssa.
