Kagami

It's been about thirty minutes since I've arrived home and downstairs has become an absolute madhouse. There are sounds of dishes clattering and pots being slammed shut by their lids. The smell of meat has invaded my nose causing my mouth to salivate. It smells so good and I can't wait to eat.

However, my stomach feels queasy due to Logan coming. I didn't feel like this before, preparations were made in order for tonight to be a success. Mentally, every scenario thrown my way has been accounted for - within the thirty minute time span. I'm ready for his arrival, now here I am in my room scrambling for an outfit. My clothes are thrown everywhere in my closet, until finally the two pieces of clothing appear before me. I have a short sleeved white shirt and a pair of dress overalls.

The overalls are black which will go great with my two toned black and white boots. The final clothing decision gets thrown on my bed, while I comb my hair and fix anything out of place. Wait why am I obsessing over this? The idea of becoming one of those lovestruck girls causes me to wince. It's just Logan, calm down.

My tie takes a while to remove, but finally the knot is loose enough for me to slide it over my head. Next, I unbutton my dress shirt and remove the skirt and tights. I pull the white shirt over my head and grab my overalls. My legs step through as I slide the dress up. Each strap slides into their metal clip and clicks securing it in place.

Lastly, I slip my boots on and zip up the inner sides of them. My mirror shows the mess I created from removing and sliding clothes over my hair. Once more I brush it down and take one look at the outfit. It's simple and casual. Dinner isn't formal enough for me to wear an actual dress.

My mind wanders to Logan and I pray he doesn't actually wear a suit. He said he would, but there was a small hope in me that made me think he wouldn't wear one. He doesn't need to anyway. It's not like my mother will ding him a few points for not looking hospitable. More so on how he smells. Somehow she has heightened senses. My eyes scan for my phone in my room only to find it located on my desk. He texted me.

Be there in ten

Then another.

Can't wait to see you ;)

The response I gave was anticlimactic. Honestly I'm horribly bad at responding to people. There is no feeling behind a text, it's either a miscommunicated sentence or nothing. There really isn't a middle ground. Not unless you use emoticons, exclamation marks and for Logan's sake a semi colon with a parenthesis.

With those ten minutes, my brush combs through my hair, my perfume is exuding off ever inch of my room and I make any last minute adjustments to my outfit. The room looks untouched with a few books placed on my bed, but my body turns to see the chaotic mess within my closet and slowly I inhale. Normally, I'd clean this, but there isn't enough time. Reluctantly I slide the closet door closed and smile at the neat looking room of mine.

"Kagami!" The yell from my mother wasn't what caused the stressful feeling, it was the idea that she called me down because she was told their car had pulled up.

"Coming!" I take one last look and head out of my room down the hall and to the stairs. My mother is standing at the end of the stairs in a red jumpsuit with a beautiful gold band on the waist that holds up an open skirt. Her cane is black and has a red family crest near the handle.

"You look amazing, mother." I smile proud of the changes I've seen. She used to wear outfits that didn't suit her and these new ones did.

"Thank you Kagami, I had one of our maids help me. It seems she's been doing a great job considering the compliments I have received." Her face was still unchanged from the thin lipped line as always.
