Kagami

Lunch has started and I am waiting for Logan. He wanted to meet out in the field in order to eat together. The weather should start storming next week, so it's a good thing he chose today. I haven't been able to give any thought towards how dinner will go tonight. It's been the last thing on my mind.

Should I feel worried over it? Mother will meet a fan of hers, Logan will butter her up somehow and I'll be meeting Logan's father. I'll be meeting his father!? Does that really scare me? Or does it make me uncomfortable? The idea of meeting a parent before officially becoming something sounds odd, but maybe if we do well as friends that feeling will change.

After all, how could anyone get close to you if you don't let them?

Those lingering words from Felix's mouth tug at me. It wasn't just a question, but a true statement. He knew that I didn't have any friends and he knew that I wouldn't want any from here. Logan can become my first friend and then Felix can leave me the hell alone.

His hand on my head and his fingers grazing my skin as he placed my hair back behind my ear are surfacing in my mind. Those are things you do with your partner, not with a girl you loathe. It's confusing and it's also unnerving. His pride was gone when we spoke, but his dark stare returned. He's the definition of whiplash.

"Kagami!" Logan yells and I blink my eyes over to him. Logan walks over to me with his backpack hanging on one shoulder and his hand in his pocket. He looks beautiful and as he nears that copper hair of his shines.

"Hey." I smile and stand up to greet him. He leans in for a hug while I pull my hand out to shake.

"Oh right. Baby steps." He laughs and I'm sure we both feel embarrassed by the miscommunication. Logan takes a seat as do I and he pulls out his lunch from his bag.

"It's been a great first half so far. I passed my AP Bio quiz, had Trig just now and this morning's student aid work wasn't a lot." He shrugs and bites into his sandwich that he pulled out.

"That's great." I stare down at my bento box. This box was imported from Japan. My mother got it for me as a birthday present last year. The black three tier containers with a Sakura cherry blossom pattern looks beautiful. As for the traditional chopsticks are partially wooden and black. Still my favorite lunch box I admire most and the meal it contains today is rice balls with salad and some shrimp.

"Did you not?" His eyebrows furrow and his hand slides underneath my chin lifting it so gently. The touch is warm and when our eyes meet I feel weak. I pull my head away from his touch and look down to the grass.

"It was...eventful." I grab a piece of shrimp with my chopsticks and stare at it. Giving Lexi a bloody nose, Mila humiliating me during math and then my conversation with Felix all replay in my mind.

"What do you mean?" He scoots in a bit closer.

"She means that it was eventful." His toneless voice causes me to drop my shrimp from my chopsticks. Felix takes a seat right next to me and it makes me shift closer to Logan.

"The fuck are you doing here?" Logan's voice is thick and I can feel his eyes shift to me.

"That's no way to greet a friend Logan." Felix's voice is deep and stern.

"Seriously Vanily, why are you here? Where are your friends?" I glance around the field to see where Mila or even his friends could be.

"They decided to go home for lunch. I had brought lunch and Mila pissed me off." Logan's hand snaked around my waist and pulled me closer to him. Felix's eyes shift to Logan's sudden movement.
