ScoutI sometimes wonder if I had not invited Theresa that what would transpire over the next few days wouldn't have happened. But the reality was word spread amongst all news and media outlets about the party and the actions of a few. And it wouldn't be a good few days of this mess.
It all started the next morning when I got a text from a buddy of mine.
I can't believe your boss has a thing for athletes.
At first, I was thinking why would Mr. Eisenhower have a thing for athletes when he's already married. But then, it hit me that it wasn't Mr. Eisenhower my friend was talking about. Going onto social media, something I wish I didn't do, I saw a picture of Brett kissing Gordon from the party last night.
Brett
I knew right then the second I saw what everyone was talking about that today wasn't going to be a good day. Everywhere you looked, the picture was liked, retweeted, and quote tweeted by a lot of users. Some of the tweets by users were just awful. One tweet said I always gets my man and that I was attached to Gordon because of his looks. Others were saying I was playing favorites and wanted Gordon as the quarterback because he was my boyfriend.
Some tweets called me a Khardashian because of their once attachment to athletes who hurt their careers a bit. Others were disgusted over the fact that I had cheated on Luke. Like, they already shipped me and Luke and were sad and horrified by this.
I was so embarrassed that I thought about booking a plane trip to an island to get further and further away from the humiliation. It was so horrifying having to have your name being thrown out there and being accused cheating and getting called a slut. It was mortifying and I wasn't even in the mood to come to work that day. Yet, I knew the best way to handle this was too address the controversy.
I made arrangements with my public relations agent to call the media and give out a statement. I then asked Gordon to also give out a statement since he too was embarrassed for everything that transpired. We agreed to have a joint press conference where we would explain ourselves.
While I was preparing for the press conference, my phone rang and it was Luke on the other end.
"Hey," he said. "Are you okay?"
"No," I replied. "I feel like shit. I am so sorry that I made us look like fools." I then went over everything that happened.
"It's okay baby. I understand. I know it was just a kiss for happy new years and not more. I just wish I would've been there."
"Me too," I said with a tear. "I have to give out a statement later explaining the details. I'm so scared I'm going to get blasted more so and have this ruin me as a general manager."
"Don't worry. I got it covered."
I stood there with the phone in freeze mode. "What are you going to do?"
"I'm going on TV today to give out a few interviews defending you. No one should be called a slut, especially a female in high authority. You just handle your press conference."
I had to say I was pleased to hear this although I wasn't sure if it would've made the situation better or worse. I knew Luke was trying to defend our relationship, but deep down, it seemed like he was fighting my battles for me and I didn't want that to happen.
Gordon
I was getting ready for the press conference when my phone rang. It came from an unknown number.
