Chapter 5
Julie woke up the next morning feeling lighthearted, a little better compared to the past few days na parang pasan niya ang mundo. Somehow her chit-chat with her best friend last night boosted her confidence in continuing to pursue Elmo. But for today she will try her best to ignore the urge of talking to Elmo but she did what she always did when she woke up lately, ordered healthy food for Elmo...she even had an exclusive grab driver now to deliver food for him. Frencheska's words fueled her determination to win Elmo back. But today hahayaan niya muna ito.
' Just a week, love. I give you just a week and after a week there's no one to stop me to have you back, I promise you that.'
She thought.
Julie was thankful she had many zoom meetings and zoom interviews with her newly released single, Regrets.
Today she had three zoom interviews at 10:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm, somehow she had something to take Elmo off her mind.
" Julie, are regrets based on your personal experiences?"
DJ Ai of Myx asked, her last interview of the day is on Myx.
" Hmm...yeah, and from some of my friends' experiences too...but everyone of us may regret naman di ba? Not particularly on love life but life in general."
" Oo nga naman...is it true? You wrote it? "
DJ Ai asked again with her signature smiles.
" Yeah... I wrote it (She looked up at the ceiling for a second, counting in her mind) . I started writing it five years ago and just finished it late last year. "
She cannot remember when did she wrote it but she was sure she wrote it when Elmo started dating Janine Gutierrez, dahil ng ma confirm niya na totoo ang mga bali-balita pinagsisihan niya ang lahat sa pagbabalewala sa feelings ng binata.
" Why did this song take so long before you finished it?"
Suddenly she felt nervous with DJ Ai's follow up question.
" Hahaha... I think hmm...I forgot about it for a while? Hahaha "
She's trying to just humor everyone, dahil sa kaba niya at halatang hindi siya komportable sa tanong.
" Talaga ba, Julie? "
DJ Ai was not convinced with her answer.
" Yeah, parang ganun na nga. Haha. Sometimes kasi depends on my mood. And during this pandemic I have so much time to write, I found out I haven't finished it yet, so one time I was in the mood to write so I was able to finish it. "
She honestly answered this time.
She answered with her infectious smiles but her smiles slowly faded with DJ Ai's next question.
" Last question Julie... And I'm very sure everyone was waiting for this, ito talaga ang totoong question... Hahaha, are you nervous Julie? Sorry but I have to ask you this."
Ai was hesitant to ask but the question in the chat box was all the same.
" Hahaha. I'm sweating nga oh (She's acting wiping sweat on her forehead.) Okay game."
" Is there a particular guy in this song, regrets? Sorry but you have to answer this. Hahaha. Gusto ko rin talaga malaman...who you were thinking when you wrote this five years ago, Julie? "
She looked at the monitor in her pleading eyes then she laughed.
" Sobrang fishy ng questions ha. Hahaha. But yun nga, I regret letting go of someone...that easy...and when he's totally out of my life I realized he's special..that I shouldn't let go (This time sadness were evident in face and her tone.) but when we were still young we did stupid things and that was one of my stupidest I think...but I learned that we shouldn't regret but learn from it. Somehow we shouldn't lose hope that someday we can make bawi or cope up with anything that happened in our lives, or with the person. Ganun naman yun di ba? If we made mistakes, and importantly we recognized and accepted our mistakes,we learned from them and made things right...Maybe life shouldn't be full of regrets but lessons learned. "
