Chapter 9
The next day Julie woke up past 2:00 in the afternoon and she didn't leave her bed, not after she finished ordering food for Elmo. She knew the man she wooed was still asleep at this hour. And before her cell phone became battery empty she sent him a message, she jumped off her bed and charged her cell phone and went straight to the bathroom to take a shower.
It was unusual that Julie still didn't come down at two in the afternoon but Marivic didn't bother to wake her up. She lets her rest if she doesn't have to work. But waking up this late made Marivic wonder.
It took her forty minutes to finish the shower… She settled in a white cotton sando and sweat pants before she went down stairs and rushed to the kitchen, avoiding everyone in the living room.
She preheated the food from the fridge and didn't even botherbto to go to the dining table, she ate at the kitchen island.
She was in the middle eating her favorite beef stew when her mother entered the kitchen.
Their eyes meet with mouth full of food, she almost choking herself when she tried to suppressed her laugh.
" Anong oras na Julie Anne, ngayon ka lang bumaba? Ano na naman pinagpuyatanp mo? I told you to stop that habit of yours…you know you have a weak immune system. Ang tigas ng ulo."
" Ma, sorry naman po. Di ako makatulog ng maayos last night eh. I even had a glass of fresh milk in the wee hours… I watched a movie, read a book but still I can't sleep. "
Julie said, of course she was just lying.
Marivic knew her daughter well so she wasn't convinced with her daughter's explanation.
" Hay naku Julie Anne…come up with a better explanation. Gasgas na gasgas na yan! And be sure hindi fb or user yang pinagpuyatan mo ha, matuto kana sa katangahan mo. Mamatang gabi wang kang magpuyat may schedule kang zoom meeting bukas para sa show ni david ewanko."
" Ma, Licauco po. Hahaha. "
" Oh sya at magpahangin muna kami ng papa mo sa clubhouse, nagustohan nya ang coffee doon . Meron naman dito gusto dun. Kung hangin naman, pareho lang din nalalanghap nating hangin. "
" Baka may barista na crush dun, Ma? Hahaha "
" Wag ka nga Julie, wag mo g itulad ang Papa mo sa mga ex mo. (Marivic one brow raised when she saw the food in the counter island in front of Julie.) Nak, hanggang hapunan na ba yan? "
" Hahaha. Ma, gutom na gutom po ako eh…almost three in the afternoon na eh. "
" Ewan ko sayong bata ka, daig mo pa mga kargador at construction worker sa lakas mong kumain…buti nalang talaga ang lakas ng makinarya mo sa tyan, di ka nanaba. "
" Yan din nga ang pinagtataka ko Ma eh. Hahaha! "
Marivic couldn't help but notice Julie's mood.
" Himala, di na biyernes santo araw mo ngayon nak…dahil ba yan sa kapuyatan mo? "
" Hala si Mama…wala nga.. Mahaba-haba kasi tinulog kaya---"
" Good mood? "
Even Julie wondered how extra happy she is today.
" Hahaha. Ma, tawag ka na ni Papa. "
" O told you Julie Anne open up...baka kung sino-sino na naman yan. Sinasabi ko sayo kung fb or user yan, ekis na agad-agad! "
" Noted po Mama! Hahaha. Wala pa nga, Ma. I'll tell you if may progress. Wag na muna ngayon Ma, baka ma jinx eh. Hahaha. Basta kilala nyo po… yan Mamay clue na kayo ha. "
