"Yeah, you could say you miss all that we had
But I don't really care how bad it hurts
When you broke me first"
~Tate McRae, you broke me firstE L L O R A
My ears are ringing. Literally. Or am I hallucinating again?
I blink, clutching my fists around my crutch tighter.
He is still sitting in his chair with a disturbingly calm demeanor as if he didn't just establish the fact of being the sole reason behind me loosing a whole course the following year.
I don't know what to feel right now, or what to think.
The silence is broken by him as he stands up, folding his shirt sleeve up his elbows on the way. "I will explain to her, Raymond. Leave." he says simply looking at Isabella for a fraction of a second before fixating his gaze back on me.
In my shock I hadn't registered Isabella's hand clasping itself around my wrist. "Trust me Ellora, it wasn't me." she tells me in a sincere voice before giving my hand a slight squeeze.
I don't take the risk of opening my mouth at the moment and simply give her a small shake of my head, trying to assure her- of what, I don't know. Because my little brain haven't yet been able to register the bomb just dropped by Professor Langdon.
Said professor is currently standing infront of his desk, leaning against it, his hands clasped on its edge on either side of him, his ankles one above another. His expression, impassive as ever.
As soon as I hear the small thud of the door closing behind me, he says tilting his head slightly towards the chair right infront of him, "Sit."
"You put those photocopies beneath my desk, professor?" I ask just to make sure my ears heard correct.
"Sit Ellora." he repeats calmly.
I don't budge from my position near the door of his office. "You wanted to get me suspended from half my classes this year?"
"Do not make me repeat myself Ellora. Sit."
Seriously? After what he told me just now, does he really think he deserves to order me around?
I stand there staring at him, no intention of moving from my place in near future.
"So you aren't going to sit?"
"No."
His fists on either side of him tightens around the wood for a moment. And then loosens.
"Yes." He says. "The answers to all your above questions are yes."
"Why?" Do I sound just as broken and betrayed and pathetic as I feel?
Probably yes.
Do I care?
Probably no.
He stares at me intently for few long seconds. "The answer to that question, Ellora, is a bit complicated for you to fathom. I'm afraid you are not ready for that kind of answer yet. "
"What do you mean?" My brows frown deep.
"Just what I said."
I stare at him flabbergasted. Then I take a step toward him, "Excuse me professor, but its the question of my one whole semester in MU. Even if I don't understand, you have to make me." My feelings right now cannot be put into words. Its a complex mixture of boiling rage and utter confusion.
He answers my question with one of his. "Do you trust me?"
"Considering you just- "
"Its a simple question, Ellora. Answer in yes or no."
