A/NAs I said it's almost done, but I hope you're still enjoying my trashy book anyway!
I think someone is going to be a little disappointed about this...👀Eric had spent the better part of a week in the hospital. He'd developed a fever due to the fact the broken shin bone had torn through the skin and got exposed to dirt in the atmosphere, and so infection had set in. A course of antibiotics solved that particular problem and as there were no worries about how the bone was now setting, they finally put the cast on his leg and released him.
With everything that he'd gone through, the trauma as well as the pain, it was thought best to let him heal naturally rather than use the help from the witches on the hospital staff. The boys, with the exception of Taehyung and Yugyeom, had all come to see him, only to find him unusually quiet. The fun loving, out spoken boy seemed to have disappeared and in his place was a very insecure teen. He found it really difficult to talk to them, especially when it came to Jin and Jungkook, and he never maintained eye contact with either of them for more than a few seconds.
He looked pale, and he had dark circles under his eyes that were dull and lacklustre. It was obvious that there was something else going on under the skin, as well as his broken leg. It was also obvious he didn't want to spend any more time with them than was necessary.
Even them joking about how he broke the ground when he fell did nothing in making him smile. In point of fact, it seemed the longer they lingered, the jumpier the boy seemed to get."I think we should leave now," Namjoon whispered gently, looking meaningfully at the others.
"Yeah, man. You could use the sleep!" Yoongi joked with a small cackle that fell flat.
Jimin coughed breaking the tense silence that followed Yoongi's joke, and they all scraped their chairs back and awkwardly stood up and patted his shoulder and arm, his fragile body flinching a little as they did so.
"Well-well, get better soon, huh?" Jin said smiling, nervously tapping the bed sheets. The vampire couldn't wait to leave, knowing he was the cause of the whole thing. He couldn't believe he was going to attack such a vulnerable person.
It had taken a lot for Namjoon to talk him around into visiting. Now he sorely wished he hadn't. His well intention-ed boyfriend was an idiot."We'll see you soon, yeah?" Jungkook gave him his best bunny smile.
"Actually, Jungkook could you stay for a minute?" Eric asked, suddenly looking up at the young vampire.
"U-uhh, sure," he said, his eyes flicking from Eric's pale face, to Jimin who had walked around to the large bedside table and fixed the cards and small gifts of fruit and juice they'd brought him, on its cool white surface. A moment later he was gone, leaving them to it.
Jungkook sat back down and rested his gaze on the boy who was nervously chewing on his bottom lip. His dark orbs held sincerity as he spoke, reaching out to take his pale hand in his. "Eric-"
"No, don't." Eric's own dark eyes were huge in his face. "Don't say anything, okay?" He pulled his hand out of Jungkook's hold, the younger simply nodded.
"I think I'd prefer it we didn't see each other any more," he started to say, his eyes glistening in the light. "I've been a-around vampires my whole life, but never once have I ever felt unsafe-"
"Eric, I-"
"I said don't talk!" the human boy croaked, tears suddenly spilling down his cheeks. He sniffed loudly as the young vampire nodded once more. "I don't know what exactly happened out there and I don't think I want to know. All I do know is I can-can't see you the same way any more. You're a vampire, Jungkook!" His eyes were pleading for some kind of understanding from him.
