I hate the saying "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me". I hate it with a passion because it seems to me that words cause the most damage.
Words are remembered for a long time. Even if those words were never meant, they can be remembered for the rest of someone's life.
"I love you" he once said to me.
But I know now that he never did.
"I'll always be here" they always said.
But I don't see them here right now.
"You're fat and ugly and worthless" she says.
Yeah, I know I am. I'm trying to fix that.
"Go kill yourself" he screamed at me.
I would if I could handle leaving my best friend.
I think they should change the saying to "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but only words will tear my skin apart" because, at least that way, it speaks the truth.
