"How about you get down from that tree?"

Lio paralysed.

There was no way she could have seen him. He was hiding in the bushes, plus there was dark. How could she see him?

Was she perhaps talking to an animal? Yeah, that could be plausible, perhaps there was a squirrel watching her too and she drew the squirrel.

But she kept watching in his direction.

She waited a few seconds, and then stood up.

Lio was frankly scared of talking to her mainly for two reasons: the first, he never had a proper conversation with people ever since he became a Burnish, and he was scared of saying inappropriate things. The second reason: he had never spoken to a girl apart from his mother.

While he was planning his way to escape, the girl had already climbed the tree and reached him, causing him to almost scream and fall from the tree.

When he opened his eyes again after the fall, he found the girl already on land, almost as if she was examining him, and she locked eyes with him.

Young Lio at this point could no longer escape.

A shy smile appeared on his face

"Haha, seems like you found me"

The girl helped him stand up and handed him a paper.

Lio was puzzled. Why was she handing him a drawing?

Seeing him standing still, looking at the paper on the verge of questioning, the girl directly took Lio's hand and put there the paper.

He blushed. No one ever picked his hand like she did.

"Well? Are you not going to observe it?" she asked

He came back from his imaginary world and took a glance at the drawing.

It was beautiful. It had something elegant about it, the way the green lines were sketched, the way every detail was carefully observed, but that was not all of it.

It was a drawing of him

Lio was speechless and astonished. He looked at the girl for questions. There were so many ones he wanted to ask her.

Why did she draw him? How did she notice him?

She sensed his need of answers and spoke:

"You know, I was scared when I first noticed you. You were observing me on this tree all the times I came here. I had used my flames so I was afraid that you'd report me to the Freeze Force. But you didn't"

She just didn't know yet that he too was a Burnish.

"And then you kept watching me. Sometimes with a smile. "What a creep" I thought"

Creep? Lio was kinda cringed to the fact that he may be considered a creep.

"I don't think you're a creep however. You seem like a nice enough person. That's why I decided to draw you"

A nice enough person?

Lio started crying. No one had ever called him nice after he became a Burnish.

The girl, who up to this time seemed composed enough, looked embarassed and sorry. Making him cry wasn't certainly what she wanted.

"Hey, hey! Are you okay? Do you need some piece of tissue?"

He smiled in tears.

"It's okay, you're just the first person that called me nice in a long time"

Just what did this boy go through?

"The drawing is really beautiful. I love it, and I will cherish it forever"

The girl had a faint blush on her cheeks.

"Why didn't you report me to the Freeze Force though? You saw that I'm a Burnish" said the girl

"Oh. About that..."

Lio created a flame in his palm

"...I'm a Burnish too"
