The Beach House, Emerald Isle, NC, 7:30 am

POV: Narrator

When everyone finished their breakfast, they all piled into the Living area once again. It was filled with orange sunlight that shone through the great, big windows. "Well...cool. We's hea', but what da' hell we gon' do now?" Racetrack said out of impatience. "Now, let me get my ea's checked. I hope I heard ya' wrong." Spot said, trying not to lose it. "Nevamind!" Racetrack said, scared. Just then on the news, more briefings about the coronavirus came through, and the Newsies became worried as it had progressed worse than everyone else predicted.

Jack noticed the worry amongst everyone as they all were already wasting away time the precious time they had there, just on watching the news. "A'right, listen up! Since you kids are unfit, we get to take a mornin' stroll along the beach." There was a confident chatter of "Okay...better than sittin' here." amongst the Newsies. Everyone first had to get ready and put on appropriate clothing for the outdoors, especially for the beach. "A'right, let's go." Jack led all of the Newsies outside from the sliding french door. "Please go barefoot, I don't want sand in nobody's shoes." he added. The sun was shining a bright orange among the row of beach houses on the isle, and on the sand. The Newsies all walked together in one direction along the horizon of the shore, and enjoyed the peaceful sound of the waves meeting the shore.

"Look, I found a stingray carcass!" Racetrack said, excitedly. "Ew, disgusting!" Sarah said, walking away. Racetrack picked up the carcass and chased Sarah with it, making her even more annoyed. She finally stopped and turned around, waited until Racetrack was up to her, and she slapped him, very hard, across the face. Racetrack fell to the ground, the carcass landing on his face, and he began crying. Even Sarah was surprised by the hit she took to Racetrack. "Race I'm sorry, I didn't mean-" "She hit me!" Racetrack cried to Spot as he took the carcass off his face. "It's okay, come to Uncle Spot," he said, comforting Racetrack. "A'right, come on guys. Racetrack, no need to instigate anything. We's here to have a good time, not to pick fights with anyone." Jack said. "Sow'y, Sarah." Racetrack said apologetically to Sarah. "Honestly, Race, I didn't mean to hit you that hard." Sarah went over to Racetrack and kissed the red mark where she had slapped him. "It'll be okay." she said, reassuringly. Racetrack immediately felt better. Just then, the young man and his girlfriend were walking the opposite direction. They were both definitely dressed for the beach, and the tall 6'2 figure nodded to Jack while looking puzzled at the situation as they all stared at them. "Mornin'," Jack said in return. His fragrance was strong and smelled of the j'adore perfume, which attracted Sarah to him. Sarah froze in place, and locked eyes on him. "He is gorgeous..." she said quietly after they passed by. "Shh! Sarah! He's already got a girl, and you're with Jack!" Davey said, concerned. "Oh right, sorry." she said, after she snapped out of a trance. "Do you like him?" Les asked curiously. Jack heard, and looked over annoyingly. "Come on, Les. That's none of our business." Davey said, stopping the awkwardness and changing the subject.

"A'right, you see how calm and enjoyable they seem? That needs to be US. WE have to be the ones having a good time hea', a'right? We's only got a week." Jack said, emphasizing everyone. "Come on, we's got a little more ways to go." Everyone continued strolling peacefully along the beach. "Hey Race, you and Spot wanna pick seashells with me and Les?" she said, trying to make up for what she did. "Suree" Racetrack responded. "Oo, look at this big shiny one I found!" Racetrack said. "Neat! We gotta keep that one." Spot said. "A'right, let's all go to da' water now, and put our feet in." Jack said. Everyone lined up together, along the shore where the water would meet their feet. "Brrrr!" Racetrack shivered as the water met his feet. "Come on, Racetrack. Just enjoy it." Jack said annoyingly. Sarah and Spot put their arms around Racetrack, and he immediately stopped shivering, and finally began to enjoy the little waves that came ashore.
