Mary and Spot's Hideout, Emerald Isle, NC, 9:45 pm
POV: Narrator
Kelson, Davey, and Jake were all tucked at the side of the house, up against a window, ready to execute their "plan of attack." "How the hell are you going to open that window?" Davey asked. "Well, let's just say I have a little bit of book smart and street smart skills," Kelson said, winking. He then proceeded to pry the window open calmly in the sight of Davey and Jake's floured eyes. "Watch this young guy work!" Kelson said quietly, but enthusiastically. He was now ready to go in. "Alright, you guys know I love you if anything goes wrong. When you get the message from me on your phones, that's your guys' signal to go in." Kelson said. He then smiled at them both, and climbed in quietly, but very flexibly.
The trailer house looked average. All the lights were off except for the kitchen light in the back, and the light of the TV which was playing a show. The living room had a brown feathered carpet. Kelson quickly navigated the couch as the best hiding spot, and hid behind it, crouching down comfortably with his easily flexible body. He then messaged the group chat of them three to head inside quietly and hide behind the couch.
Jake attempted to help Davey up the window, but it was impossible with their clumsiness. Kelson saw this and crawled over quietly to the window to try and help. He peeked his head out and reached out his arms to pull up Davey, smiling. He then reached up to grab Kelson's hands, when suddenly his eyes went cuckoo, his body slumped to the side of the house while still hanging from inside the house, and immediately went unconscious. Kelson was attacked with a blunt object in the back of the head and was pulled back from the window back into the house. Luckily, the attacker did not see Davey or Jake, so they immediately pressed their bodies up against the side of the house so they could not be seen by whoever was inside. Davey and Jake looked at each other, with terror in both of their eyes, as they were both shaking.
"What the heck do we do now? We can't go in there now!" Jake said whispering. "That's my brother and my sister, I don't care what happens to me, it's my job to protect them," Davey argued back quietly. "Then I'm going with you, Davey. If something happens to you, then I don't want to bother wasting my time out here. We'll do it together. We gotta save Kelson, Sarah, and Les. And if there's anything out of this we can take if we die doing this, is that," "What?" Davey interrupted Jake. "I love you," Jake said calmly, softly reaching for Davey's hand. "I-, I love you too..." Davey said, realizing their true feelings for each other. "I really enjoy spending time with you, I really do. And in the short amount of time we've known each other, we already know each other so well. You give me happiness, you were there for me when I nearly died!" Jake said. "So if we end up dying on this mission to save our family, then let's end our journey together this way, knowing that we did it for the best," he added. Davey started crying. Then, Jake also began to cry a little. "Come on, give me a hug," Jake said, his voice breaking. They both hugged each other for as long as they could, cherishing every second before they knew of the ultimate sacrifice they had to make for their fellow friends. When they broke apart timidly, Jake looked Davey confidently in the eyes as he still sniffled, grasped his hand firmly, and said "Let's do this."
