Kelson's Beach House, Emerald Isle, NC, 5:00 am

POV: Narrator

It was 5am, time for Kelson to awake. He slammed his alarm out of misery because of what he knew needed to be done that day. He went to his bathroom to go potty and to shower. While he was showering, he kept thinking horrible thoughts of all the possibilities that could have happened to Jake, Sarah, and Les. Having a flash moment, he immediately turned off the water, quickly dried off, conditioned his hair quickly, and got dressed. He decided to go downstairs, have a good breakfast, and watch CNN, his own News station for the daily briefing of the COVID-19 crisis.

around 6:00 am

"Schools will be closing down for two weeks and all students are scheduled to learn from home during that time," the news reporter said. Kelson was astonished at the news, and he decided to go for a morning walk to clear his mind off things. It was his way of keeping his sanity in control during this crazy time. One of Kelson's assistants accompanied him on the walk on the beach to make sure nothing bad would happen. He strutted barefoot across the horizon where the sun was rising, admiring the beauty of a new day. Kelson just enjoyed nature.

He was continuing to walk down the normal route he used to with Mary until he spotted from a few yards away what appeared to be a body lying on the sand. He grew more concerned. As Kelson and his assistant made it closer, he could make out that it was someone who was blonde. They continued to go closer and closer until it became evident who was lying on the sand.

Jake.

Kelson ran over to Jake's side within a matter of seconds. Kelson's assistant immediately followed. Jake's body was decimated, covered partly in the sand, and it looked like he had undergone a worse beating than Davey did. He was unconscious.

"Jake, no man you can't leave me like this. Wake up. Wake up, Jake!" Kelson continued to shake him aggressively until Jake's eyes began to...open! Kelson immediately stopped shaking him when he realized he was awake. "Kelson...I need...help..." Jake was able to mutter out. He looked like he was in so much pain. "Oh God, you hang in there, Jake, alright? Just stay with me." Kelson said. Jake nodded. "We're taking him to Jack's place, it's right over there," Kelson said to his assistant. "Shouldn't we call for assistance from your place-" "GO!! FOLLOW ME! COME ON!" Kelson yelled. He was distraught at the sight of his friend's mangled body. Kelson then proceeded to pick up Jake and carry him superhero style towards the Newsies' Beach House.

They were now at the back deck of the Newsies' Beach House. "Go and knock on the door and explain to them what happened. I don't want them seeing this the first thing." Kelson ordered. "Right away, sir." He followed the instructions, and Jack happened to open the back door, thankfully. When Jack heard the news, he immediately rushed over to where Kelson was, holding Jake's body. "Oh my God-" Jack said in an appalled manner. "He's awake for now, but we gotta get him inside and resting somewhere. I don't know where Sarah and Les are." Kelson said. "Here, bring em' through the downstairs so it's not a scene for the Newsies to see," Jack said. They both carried him through the basement french doors and up the stairs into Jack's bedroom. They laid him down and began to take action from there. "Go back to the house and get the rest of the crew over here," Kelson instructed his assistant. "Right away, sir." "Kelson..." Jake said. "What, what is it?" Kelson said while kneeling next to Jake holding his hand in both of his hands and looking at him attentively. "Please, don't...make this public. I don't want anyone...knowing..." Jake said. "Anything for you. Just keep resting, you don't have to worry about anything. You can tell us everything that happened when you're ready." Kelson assured him. "Oh and, make sure you tell the crew not to say a word." he added before his assistant left. Jake smiled, then slowly closed his eyes. "I'm just resting..." He said softly.

Davey walked in the room a few moments later, with a black eye. He was up and walking, but he was still sore. "Oh my god, what happened??" Davey said with a terrified face. "Not Jake too!" "No, he's fine for now. He's just resting. Be gentle with him." Kelson stopped Davey and said before letting him through. Davey walked up and tucked Jake under the covers gently. "I'll take good care of him." Davey said to both Jack and Kelson. "Thank you Davey, you're a real good friend to him. My crew will be here soon to check up on him." Kelson said, and smiled at Davey. Both Jack and Kelson exited the room.
