The next day, (y/n) went in the Economics Room for the Student Counsel meeting while Danny waited outside again. She notices Cleo in the corner whispering to Spectra, and hides so they don't see her. As Cleo goes to leave, (y/n) notices the same purple aura around her eyes as yesterday, then she runs out of the room without saying a word. Abbey Bominable, a yeti, notices something seems off about her.
Abbey: Spectra, you alright?
Spectra: *with the same purple aura around her eyes as Cleo* Yeah, I'm over the Sphinx.
(Y/n) stares in horror as Toralei, a werecat, calls the meeting to order. They start talking business when Spectra, purple aura still around her eyes, raises her hand to speak.
Spectra: *in a trance* Hoook em, spoook em, pyramid head! Better stop the curse, or we'll wind up dead. Ra! Ra! Rescue Team-Ghoul for the school. Only A-Newbie-yes, can save us all!!!
Toralei: *unsure* Uh... Sure, Spectra.
Toralei asks (y/n) to call in a favor Deuce Gorgon, Cleo's boyfriend, owed her. (Y/n) complies, eager to tell Danny what she saw and what Spectra said. Danny had seen Cleo bolting past him and wanted to know what she had been doing.
Danny: I saw Cleo run out of the Economics Room. Why was she in there?
(Y/n): She was whispering to Spectra in a far corner. When she left, Spectra had the same aura around her eyes as Cleo. I think it's a curse and Cleo just spread it to Spectra. And Spectra said this weird chant or something.
She tells him what was said. Suddenly, their Icoffins go off and they check the News Feed. Spectra just posted something about the rate of infection, Danny and (y/n) exchange worried looks. (Y/n) gets a text from Sam.
Sam: You guys saw the News Feed, right? Why do I get the feeling that this "Infection" Spectra was talking about has something to do with what's been going on with Cleo?
Danny and (y/n) exchange looks again and tell Sam what happened with Cleo and Spectra in the Economics Room and their theory that Cleo was cursed and had spread it to Spectra.
Sam: And you think her Amulet has something to do with what's going on with her?
(Y/n): most likely. Whatever she said to Spectra must have spread the curse. Be careful and let Tucker in the loop.
The two ghosts make it to Home Ick where Deuce is preparing for lunch. He tells (y/n) that he's been hearing some good rumors about her and that she was already starting to leave her mark. He tells the two that the Cooking Club would be happy to make the cookies for the fundraiser anyways, but asked they not tell Toralei so he had one less favor he owed her. After that was squared away, they went to class. They meet up for Fearleading practice, Cleo's late again. Clawdeen asks (y/n) if she'd seen Cleo.
(Y/n): Yeah, she was in the Council meeting.
Draculaura: What was she doing there?
(Y/n): Talking to Spectra.
Clawdeen: You saw Cleo talking to Spectra? Then what happened?
(Y/n): She ran off.
(Y/n) and Danny decide to tell them about what happened when they had more information. One of the other ghouls comments that she saw Cleo earlier talking to Spectra, too.
Frankie: *as Cleo approachs the Fearleaders* It's got to be more than just a coincidence.
Cleo: What's more then just a coincidence?
Frankie: Oh, bolts! Nothing, just a rumor I heard about a freshman.
Cleo asks why they were just standing around and Clawdeen tells her they were waiting for her and starts an argument where Cleo says she doesn't talk to Spectra if she could help it. Cleo pulls (y/n) aside and asks her to find the last set of Cosmic Fearleading Steps, they're in the auditorium. After getting them and returning to Cleo, Cleo tells (y/n) that she has some business to attend to, so asked her to tell the others to practice without her, and she runs off again.
Clawdeen: So, what'd she say?
(Y/n): Practice without her.
Clawdeen: I can't believe she gets you to tell us to practice while she runs off doing who knows what. Well, at least she gave you the clue for the final set of Cosmic Fearleading Steps.
Draculaura: Enough of this Cleo stuff, let's get practicing already.
While the Fearleaders practice, Danny texts Tucker to let him know what's going on with Cleo and asking him if he'd seen Spectra today. After practice, Danny and (y/n) go to class, still very aware of the purple aura that had been around Cleo's eyes before she left. After school, they filled Sam and Tucker in on what happened with Cleo and Spectra in the Economics Room and advising them to keep their guards up and keep an eye on Cleo and Spectra.
