Thu- You get the idea. I'd been coming home later than normal every night for the past few weeks. So much to the extent that Phoenix started to question be about it.

"(Y/n), why do you keep coming home so late? It's got to the point where Trucy's in bed before you get back. Explain to me why, please."

I sighed and snuggled closer to him, leaning my head on his shoulder, "It's nothing, just work."

"Doesn't your shift end at 4 though? Why aren't you getting back until after me?!"

"Because I've been forced to take on someone else's shift because said girl is a little bitch and said that she'd get me fired if I didn't take her shift in the evening too!"

"(Y/n), a-as much as I am going to hate asking you this, but-"

"Then don't ask me! And yes I am stressed! You have no clue how many bad customers I have to deal with on a daily basis, Nick!" I replied, taking my head off his shoulder and standing up from my previous position on the sofa. Before I could walk upstairs and lock myself in the bedroom, which would force him to sleep on the sofa, he'd grabbed my arm, "(Y/n), tell me. Are you cheating on me?" I felt my heart break at that sentence and tears came to my eyes, "OF COURSE NOT! I LOVE YOU NICK AND ONLY YOU!" I got out of his grip and ran off out the house in my slippers, not bothering to put my shoes on, and ran to the one person I knew I could trust and would not be mad at me no matter how late it was.

I caught my breath before knocking on the door to my best friend's house. I heard a sigh from inside and some shuffling as well as a mumble of what sounded like, "Who the fuck is knocking on my door at midnight?! I need my sleeps peoples!" before the door opened, "Oh! (Y/n)! It's so good to s- wait, why the actual fuck are you here? And in your pyjamas?! At this point in the night?!"

"C-can you let me in and I'll tell you."

She nodded, and let me in, closing the door behind me, "(Y/n), Love, did you run here in slippers?!"

I nodded, "Y-yeah, I'll explain why though later." She replied with a nod and walked off, "Take a seat on the sofa and I'll make us some hot chocolate!" I smiled and nodded, going to sit on the sofa in her living room. A few minutes later, she returned, handing me a mug of hot chocolate, "Here you go, Love."

"Thanks, Jen," I replied taking the mug from her and taking a sip, "This is amazing!"

"Stop trying to change the subject. Explain why you're on my doorstep in the middle of the night wearing only your pyjamas and dressing gown and slippers on your feet."
