Again, this is NOT incest. I will never write an incest story so please do not request one. (Speaking of requests; I need more. Please request by either PMing me or commenting on this chapter or any other previous request pages) This is just a 'fluffy' little thing... If you can guess what is going to go down from the title; You deserve many many cupcakes of your chosen flavour.
------------------Your Age: 14 Edgeworth's Age: 5
"(Y/n), please. Open the door! I'm bored."
"Miles, please I'm busy. I'll play with you later," I replied through the closed door of my bedroom.
"Come on. Why are you shutting me out?"
"I'm not shutting you out! I'm just busy working. It may be hard for you to understand but the older you get the more work you have to do!"
"I know that! But, taking breaks is good as well! If you want to be able to concentrate, then taking a break will be good! Just go away, Miles."
"Miles, leave your sister alone. If she doesn't want to play, you can't force her."
"Okay, bye..."
I turned back to the school project that I needed to complete, Why can't he get it in his head? I have school work that needs to be done. I don't have time for his silliness and jokes.
------------------Your Age: 17 Edgeworth's Age: 8
"(Y/n), it's snowing! Can we go and play in the snow?!"
"Miles, please. I have school work I need to do!"
"But, it's Christmas Break! You can't work through all of it!"
"Yes, I can! I have my GCSE mocks when I get back to school! I need to be prepared for them! And you distracting me, saying you want to play games, is not helping!" I rubbed my temples out of annoyance.
"Miles, your sister's right. Her mocks will help her practice for the real thing in June. Come on, I'll play with you."
"Thank you, Father!" I shouted through the closed door, At least someone knows how important these mocks are.
---------------Your Age: 19 Edgeworth's Age: 10
"(Y/n), please, I know you're in there," I heard my brother's voice from outside my room.
"What is it now?!" I shouted, even more irritated. This year my mocks were even more important than my GSCEs.
"Something happened today..." I heard a hint of sadness in his voice. I opened the door to my room, only to see him crying his eyes out. I gasped before embracing him in a tight hug, "Come on. Shh. What happened? Come on you can tell me."
"It's father... H-he..."
"Shh, it's okay. You don't need to say any more, Miles. Come on, " I replied running his back. I picked him up and brought him into my room, leaving the door wide open. I placed him down on my bed before sitting on it myself,
"Where the north wind meets the sea
There's a river full of memory
Sleep, my darling, safe and sound
For in this river all is foundIn her waters, deep and true
Lay the answers and a path for you
Dive down deep into her sound
But not too far or you'll be drownedYes, she will sing to those who'll hear
And in her song, all magic flows
But can you brave what you most fear?
Can you face what the river knows?Where the north wind meets the sea
There's a river full of memory
Come, my darling, homeward bound
When all is lost, then all is found."
By the time I'd finished singing, he was fast asleep, curled up into my side. I smiled softly and let out a sigh before falling asleep myself.
Oh, God (Y/n). What have you done?
---------------------Your Age: 33 Edgeworth's Age: 24
How could I have been so idiotic as to let this happen?! Was the sort of thoughts that were running through my mind as I made my way to the detention centre. (Y/n), You had one job: Make sure Miles was okay. and what do you do? You completely failed. I walked into the detention centre and found a guard, "I'd like to speak to Miles Edgeworth please."
"He's already got visitors, you'll have to come back later."
I ignored him and pushed past.
"One guest at a time! I already told you!"
"It's fine. We were just leaving. Come on Maya, we need answers."
"But, Nick..."
"And we're not going to get them here."
The two people that were in the room left and I glared at the guard, walking in myself, "Miles! Miles, I'm sorry this happened! This is all my fault! I should have looked after you better!"
"(Y/n), none of this is your fault. I just don't remember much of what happened apart from: I got a letter from 'Robert Hammond' telling me to meet him by the lake. I went there on the designated time and date. We then got on a boat and sailed to the middle of the lake before he pulled a pistol out. He fired two shots into the lake before jumping in himself. I picked up the gun on a panicked state and that's how I got arrested."
I banged my head on the glass repeatedly, "Miles! What did I tell you?! You should know better than to pick up a potential murder weapon! Did everything I taught you just go in one ear and out the other?!"
"(Y/n), I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking!"
"Please let me defend you?"
"That's why I shooed Wright off. I knew you wouldn't let anyone but yourself defend me."
"Really?! But he's your friend. Why didn't you just tell him you already had an attorney rather than shooing him away?"
-------------------
"Miles! I'm so glad you're free! Please never let yourself get arrested for murder, or anything else for that matter, again, okay?" I hugged him, crying onto his shoulder, "Please, don't scare me like that again. I couldn't take it if I lost you as well. I'd have even more built-up guilt than I already have."
"What do you mean 'built-up guilt', (Y/n)?"
"I-I just wish I'd spent more time with you and Father when we were younger rather than just pouring myself into my school work. I know something now that I wish I knew back then: Family and friends are more important than school or grades. I'm so sorry!"
"(Y/n), I forgive you. You had every right to focus on your studies. I'm now glad you did, if you hadn't, then you wouldn't be the amazing attorney you are today."
"Really? You're forgiving me at the snap of a finger?" I asked removing my head from his shoulder.
"Yes," he replied wiping my now tear-stained face.
"I love you so much, Miles. Don't ever forget that!"
"I love you too, (Y/n)."
