This randomly came to me while I was trying to get to sleep.
-------------------
I was walking about the city when I noticed something; a long magenta coat. I, being the curious five-year-old I was, decided to pull on it to see what it would do. It was when it moved that there was someone wearing it, "Oh, hello. What are you doing here on your own?"
"What do you mean?"
"Where are your parents?"
I looked down and started to cry softly, "My parents died when I was really young." I then felt myself being embraced in a hug, "I know what it feels like growing up with no parents. My father was killed when I was ten."
"What's going on here?" I asked motioning to all the, what I guessed were police officers, running about the place.
"We're investigating a crime scene. I don't suppose you know anything."
"Well, I was walking past here earlier. I heard a big 'Bang!' and ran over here hiding behind the bench," I motioned to the said bench.
"Would you mind testifying about what you saw for me?"
"Testi-what?"
"Testifying. You basically just say what you saw."
"Oh. If it helps the investigation, I'd be happy to help!"
--------------EDGEWORTH'S POV
"Mr Edgeworth, you may call your next witness."
"Of course, Your Honour. The prosecution would now like to call upon an eye witness that saw the murder as it happened."
YOUR POV
I was sitting in a big room, bored out of my mind when a guy wearing a blue outfit walked up to me, "Miss, you're required to testify."
"Okay," I replied following him into a big room. I was led to a wooden thing that I couldn't see over.
"Bailiff! Please bring a box for the witness to stand on!" a guy with a big grey beard shouted. The same guy wearing a blue outfit came back with a box for me. I stood on it, "Thank you."
"Witness, please state your name and occupation," I recognised the guy that spoke. He was the same guy that was investigating earlier.
"Um... I'm (Y/n) (L/n). I'm only five so I don't have a job," I spoke quietly.
"(Y/n), can you please tell us what you witnessed?"
I looked at him confused. He eventually got what I meant, "Can you please tell us what you saw?"
WITNESS TESTIMONY - WHAT I SAW
"Oh yeah. I was walking around the park, when I heard a big 'bang' I followed the sound to see a guy standing over another person, who was lying on the ground. I hid behind a nearby bench and watched the scene play out. The guy that was standing up brought, what I guessed was a knife out of his pocket and stabbed it into the person lying on the ground. I squeaked and put my hands over my eyes, not wanting to see any more. By the time I removed them, the guy that had been standing up was gone. I ran off quickly."
"Mr Wright, your cross-examination."
"Yes, Your Honour."
CROSS-EXAMINATION - WHAT I SAW
"I was walking around the park when I heard a big 'bang'..."
"HOLD IT!"
I nearly fell off of the box from the force I was not expecting but managed not to, grabbing onto the wood to stop myself.
"Wright, may I need to remind you, the witness is a child! Please tone it down!"
"Sorry. (Y/n)."
"Yes?"
"What caused the 'bang' you heard?"
"I-I don't know, but I followed the sound."
"Wright, if you're trying to say it wasn't a gunshot, that argument won't hold; As I stated before, the witness is a child, she wouldn't know what a gunshot sounded like."
"Wait!" I shouted.
"(Y/n)?"
"I know now. It was a gunshot! I have heard that sound before and no, I don't mean the night of the murder, I've heard it before then."
"Huh?!"
"It seems a five-year-old is smarter than you are, Boss!"
-----------------------
The trial eventually ended and as I was walking out the big building, I felt a hand on my shoulder, "(Y/n), I was wondering whether you'd want me to look after you. I mean, I wouldn't be a very good father, but I'll try my best to take care of you."
"You would?" I asked looking at him in the eye and tilting my head.
"Yes, if you'd let me, I want to adopt you. You told me before you didn't have any other family."
"Is that really a good idea, Edgeworth?" I turned around at the sound of the voice. It was the same guy from the trial, "I mean, you're not that great with children."
"Wright, for your information, I'm perfectly capable of taking care of a child."
"Well, what would she do all day? Watch you doing paperwork?"
"Very funny, Wright. I know how to do other things apart from work, you know."
"(Y/n), would you not rather stay with us at the Wright Anything Agency? You'd have a lot of fun and Trucy could show you some magic."
"Wright, rather than fighting over her, why don't we just let (Y/n) decide who she wants to go with."
"I agree with you, Edgeworth. So, (Y/n), who would you rather adopted you?"
PHOENIX ENDING
I walked up to him and hugged his legs, "Papa!" I heard chuckling before I felt myself being picked up, "Welcome to the agency, (Y/n). Bye Edgeworth."
EDGEWORTH ENDING
I thought about it for a minute before walking up to the guy I met before, "Papa!"
"Well, Wright. It seems (Y/n) has chosen."
"Yeah! I want you to be Papa! You're like me!"
"How do you mean, (Y/n)?" the other guy asked me. I would have answered but I was cut off, "(Y/n), lost her parents at a young age as well, Wright. Even younger than me actually." I hugged his legs, "Don't cry, Papa. It wasn't your fault."
"Such a sweet girl. Well, bye, Edgeworth. See you later."
"Bye-bye!" I spoke waving to him before falling asleep in Papa's arms.
EXTRA ENDING
I couldn't decide. They were both arguing back and forth about who would adopt me. It was then that someone else spoke up, "Mr Wright, Mr Edgeworth. It's up to (Y/n). You can't influence her decision."
It was that moment that I made up my mind. I walked up to the guy that had spoken, "Papa!" I spoke reaching my arms out to him.
"You want me to be your 'Papa'?" I nodded. He picked me up, "See that's what happens when you argue; neither of you gets what you want." I snuggled into his chest, "Warm."
"Apollo?! She chose Apollo?!"
"Yeah! I don't want to go with either of you if you keep arguing," I replied before snugging back into Papa's chest and falling asleep.
