So, the title may be confusing. It means the time between the DL-6 incident and Turnabout Memories. So, when Phoenix and Larry are in middle school and Edgeworth is with von Karma.

"What?! You're... breaking up with, me?!" I cried through tears threatening to fall down my face.
"It's just we fight too much."
"Fine! I'll leave then," I replied before running off. I ran up to the roof of the school and hid up there until lunchtime.

I hadn't realised that I'd fallen asleep until I felt someone shaking my shoulder, "(Y/n)? (Y/n), wake up." I woke up to see Phoenix and Larry, "Oh, hey guys."
"What's up? You've been crying."
"I'm not crying!" I replied wiping my tears away.
"Yes, you are. What happened?"
I gave up and flung myself onto Phoenix sobbing. I wrapped my arms around his neck and continued to sob into his shoulder. I soon felt his wrap awkwardly around my back, "What happened?"
"M-my boyfriend... H-He.. broke up with me..." I cried into his shoulder. I felt one of his hands move down to my waist and the other to the back of my head. He lifted my head from his shoulder and I looked him in the eye.
"Phoenix, what are you doing?" I asked when I noticed the position he was holding me in.
"Would you mind if I were to..." he trailed off looking between my eyes and lips. I giggled knowing what he wanted before leaning in and kissing him. We broke off a few minutes later, "I knew I should have chosen you over him, Phoenix. I love you."
"I-I love you too, (Y/n)."
