Betty POV:
I finally arrived at city hall to talk to the mayor of Riverdale. I slipped my helmet off my head and went into the building. I was hoping that the mayor would be willing to see me today. She isn't too fond of the Serpents. She doesn't have to be. I just want the town paper to stop writing horrible things about us that we didn't do. All I wanted was peace for my Serpents. Yeah, we didn't grow up in a great environment, but the Serpents are family. We look out for each other. No Serpent left behind.
"May I help you?" The receptionist asked me. She was clearly suspicious of me. She could tell I was a Serpent.
"Yeah. I need to talk to the mayor. Everyone on this side of town thinks that my Serpents are miscreants and that we do awful things that we've never even done. All the Serpents want is peace." I explained.
"Your Serpents?" She asked me. She raised her left eyebrow. Now I knew that she was suspicious and didn't want to let me be in contact with the mayor.
"Yeah. I'm their leader. And, I think that the mayor and I should talk about things. One leader to another." I told her. I set my hands on the desk so that she could see that I didn't have my switchblade in my hands. I still had my switch in my jacket pocket for protection. But I doubt that I would need it. After all, it's just the mayor I was talking to.
"The mayor's busy right now. But I doubt that she would see you. Miss..." The receptionist told me.
"Cooper. Betty Cooper." I said.
"Well Miss Cooper, as I said, the mayor is busy right now so you're either going to have to come back later or make an appointment." She explained to me.
I sighed. I needed to talk to the mayor. If this was the only way to do it, then so be it.
"Fine. What does she have open?" I asked.
"Let's see. She's booked through next Tuesday. So, how about next Wednesday?" She asked me.
"Fine. What time should the mayor expect me?" I asked back.
"1:00. That's PM, Miss Cooper." She explained to me.
"Fine. Whatever. I'll be here at 12:45 then." I said to her.
She waved her hand, gesturing for me to leave. I was completely exasperated, but I didn't want to argue. So I went outside to get on my motorcycle to head back to the Whyte Wyrm. When I saw a boy. He looked to be about my age. He wore a grey beanie. I noticed that it was in some sort of a crown shape. I could see tufts of black hair. Had he followed me? Or was it just a coincidence that he happened to be here? How had he gotten here? I didn't see any car, bike, truck, or motorcycle. But, it almost didn't matter. All I knew was, that... he's actually pretty handsome. Woah. Did I just think that? I've never even seen him before. And yet, he's done something to me. I had a feeling that this wasn't the last time I'd see him.
