2 years later
Jughead POV:
Forsythe is 2 years old now. He ended up with my eyes and my hair color. But he has his mother's laugh and smile. Anna just adores her little brother. I can't believe she's eight and Forsythe is 2. Betty is amazing with the kids. She resigned from the Register and now she's working full time as a waitress at Pop's Chock'Lit Shoppe. I'm working with Archie at his dad's construction company part-time because one of us needs to stay with Forsythe during some of the days. Otherwise, we have someone watch Forsythe while Anna is at school. Cheryl and Toni have retired from the Serpents and have passed on the torch to their daughter Josie. So on the days, I have to work, Cheryl and Toni take care of Forsythe. Mr. Andrews doesn't have me working weekends so I can spend time with the kids while Betty is at work.
Anna is in second grade at Riverdale Elementary. Her teachers say she's doing exceptionally well in all parts of the curriculum. Mathematics, reading, writing, motor skills, you name it. She's got it down. Betty and I have even received offers for scholarships for schools for the gifted and talented. We haven't made any definitive decisions. We want to talk to Anna about them first to see what she thinks about going to a new school.
I know she'd be sad to leave her friends at Riverdale Elementary. But Betty and I think any of these schools would be a huge opportunity for her.
Luckily today is Friday. I got Forsythe into his car seat and went to pick up Anna from school.
Betty always gets home after 6:00 so I started getting dinner ready at about 5:00. Everything was going to be perfect. I was going to make her favorite meal (I also made something for our picky eater children) and have dinner by candlelight while we talk to Anna about going to a new school.
Everything was ready when Betty came home from work.
"Jug, what's all this?" Betty asked, a shocked smile on her lips.
"Just a little surprise dinner by candlelight. I thought I'd make your favorite and a little something for our picky eaters. I thought we should make tonight special while we talk to our daughter about you-know-what." I said winking.
"Ah. Well, this all looks amazing. We better get eating if we don't want the food to get cold." She said.
"It's like you read my mind, Betts." I said chuckling.
Betty chuckled too and called the kids to the table.
I got Forsythe into his highchair while Anna climbed into a chair beside Betty.
Once everyone dished up and had started eating I looked at Betty for the okay to talk to Anna about school. She nodded.
"So, Anna. Your teachers tell me and your mommy that you're doing really good in class."
"Yeah, daddy. Everything is too easy." She told me, a huge smile forming on her face.
"Well, your mommy and I have gotten some offers from special schools. Schools for kids like you. For kids who are very gifted." I told her.
Anna just looked at me confused.
"Anna, honey, what your daddy means is that we think that these schools would be very good for you because of what your teachers tell us. And your teachers also think that these schools would be good because everything is too easy for you." Betty explained.
"So you want me to go to a new school?" Anna asked us.
"Well, that's up to you sweetheart. I know you don't want to leave your friends at school. But your mom and I think this would be good for you. I want you to know that you don't have to have an answer right now. You can take some time to think about it and tell us later. We know this is a big decision." I told her.
"Okay, daddy. I'll think about it." Anna said.
"That's all we expect you to do sweetheart." Betty told her.
"Jug, do you mind giving Forsythe his bath while I get Anna ready for bed?" She asked me.
"Sure honey. Come on Forsythe. It's bathtime." I said, scooping up Forsythe into my arms.
Forsythe giggled as I brought him upstairs and got him some jammies for after his bath so Betty and I could get him down for bed easier.
Forsythe loves his bath. While I'm getting him cleaned up he's playing with his toys. His favorite is his little rubber ducky who we call Mister Quack-Quack. After he was done I got him into his clothes for the night.
Betty came out of Anna's room with a smile, indicating she had successfully gotten Anna to bed.
"Do you want to put him to bed Betts, or is it my turn tonight?" I asked her half-jokingly.
"I'll do it tonight." She said.
"No. I want daddy do it." Forsythe said.
"Looks like it's my turn tonight." I laughed.
"Okay. Come and join me in bed when you're done?" Betty asked winking.
"You know I will." I chuckled.
Betty closed the door slowly facing me and giving me a sexy smile.
I quietly laughed to myself and got Forsythe to bed. It took about half an hour to get him to sleep. Then I quietly left his room and joined Betty in our room. She was reading to herself. I climbed into bed after getting into just my boxers for the night.
"So how did Forsythe go down?" Betty asked me.
"It took about half an hour but nothing unusual." I told her.
"That's good. Do you want to do anything before bed?" She asked me. A sly smirk forming on her face.
"Well, that depends. What did you have in mind?" I asked in my sexy voice that I knew turned Betty on.
Ten minutes later we were sweaty and gasping for breath. Betty and I looked at each other and smiled. We knew that we had had a lot of fun doing that.
Betty started yawning and snuggled her face into my right side. I just pulled her into my side as she just nuzzled into me. I turned off the light and kissed her forehead.
"Goodnight Betty." I whispered.
"Goodnight Jug." She whispered back to me, barely awake. Then she fell asleep nuzzled into my side. I fell asleep a few minutes later.
