Chapter 39: Estrellas

    I went to TGC office this morning before I submitted the article I was tasked to finish this Friday. I needed to accomplish it by the end of the month because we had to release a quarterly newsletter. May meeting talaga kami kanina, but I was not able to attend due to some circumstances. Let me just say that I had to finish doing a group project with my classmates kaya hindi ako nakattend.

    Supposedly, hindi ko na dapat sila sasamahan dahil tapos naman na yung part ko doon sa paggawa ng instructional materials kaso baka sabihin kasi na wala man lang akong moral support, so I ended up watching and helping them kanina after lunch. Good thing, we finished it; next Wednesday pa naman ang pasahan kaya masaya ako na natapos na namin ito before the submission period.

    Now, I have this whole afternoon free from all paperwork, so I've sent Esther a direct message, asking her if she is free, but she has told me she is currently in a lab session. I pouted when I read her reply. I really wanted to unwind today, Friday naman and this week has been so stressful that I deserve a break.

    I deserve a fried chicken!

    Aayain ko dapat si Esther na mag-unli wings kami sa San Rafael. Kagabi ko pa kasi gustong kumain no'n dahil nakita kong nagshare ng post tungkol sa sweet and spicy at salted egg chicken wings sa Facebook si Kuya. I even shared it as well. Hinaha pa nga ng mga pinsan ko kasi magseshare na lang daw ako ng post after a long time, pagkain pa. They told me they were expecting me to finally share hugot quotes and for heart broken memes, at hindi chicken wings.

    Mga walanghiya, 'di ba?

    Speaking of walanghiya, I was waiting for Lucas. Tinext ko kasi siya kanina about me not attending the meeting, kasi nagtanong siya bakit wala pa ako sa office. When he asked me if I ate, I replied immediately that I did, and he told me he was also done taking his lunch. I asked him kung ano na bang nangyayari sa meeting habang kasama ko ang mga kagrupo ko, but until this moment na nag-aabang na ako ng tricycle pauwi, wala pa rin siyang reply.

    Aww, another walanghiya!

    I felt a little sad kasi hindi na rin talaga ako sanay na may iniintay na message. However, when I was about to call for a tricycle, his name appeared on my phone screen.

    "Hello? Bakit?" I asked him.

    "Hey, sorry hindi ako nakareply kanina. Ang haba kasi ng sermon ni kuya Aaron sa mga senior staffers natin," Lucas briefly explained. Tumango naman ako while looking at the lamppost in front of me as if Lucas could see my reaction.

    "Okay lang," sagot ko naman. Hindi okay, bulong ng isang parte ng utak ko. Sana nagtext ka man lang kanina after meeting.

    "Sure?"

    "Oo naman, 'no!" Joke.

    "Parang hindi naman. Okay lang naman kung nagtatampo ka," he mumbled and it caught me off guard, dahil hindi naman ako marunong magtampo talaga. Never; kahit noong si Javi pa ang boyfriend ko.

    Then I just realized that I had many feelings that I felt toward Lucas that I had never felt with Javi. With Javi, I never saw myself crying just because I was jealous; and I never got jealous just because Javi looked close with my female friends, but with Lucas, every time he was talking to Esther through their eyes, I felt so insecure of his feelings for me. With Javi, I never felt confused and overwhelmed because of jealousy;
