Chapter 94: True Family
_______________________________________________

The ride was silent and somewhat discomforting for me as I fidgeted nervously in the passenger seat of my father's semi-truck.

Nervously, I glanced over at the holoform and flinched when his sharp gaze snapped from the road to me.

I whimpered softly under his glare and quickly directed my attention back to my lap, allowing the tense silence to continue for the rest of the ride.

Now...how do I explain this? Well, I started school a few days ago, and turns out the human children are no different from my old school. One of the girls seemed to have a problem with me for some unknown reason and came to confront me about it during recess.

Or insult me.

She claims I was trying to take over and I should stop and remain in my spot as the "new kid". She knows nothing about personal attention and tends to draw attention to herself.

I did my best to reassure her that it was not my intention to be "controlling" even though I hardly talk to the other human children.

She did not listen to me and the argument began to get heated.

Then she pushed me.

By the looks of it, I could easily tell I was in a world of trouble, and by my dad's expression, he was not happy being called to the principal's office for the 5th..6th time?

I lost count.

I took a deep breath and exhaled it through my nose before raising my head to glance out the window.

Oh.

I was shocked to see that we were already pulling up to the base.

Already?! Twenty minutes passed quite fast.

Once we were allowed to pass through the gates I noticed that my father didn't let me out and transform like he normally did. Instead, he continued forward through the bay down the hallways.

"Dad?" When I was met with silence, I glanced over towards the driver's seat to see that the holoform was no longer there. I looked at the radio, expecting some sort of response or noises of acknowledgment but when I received none, I shifted uncomfortably and bowed my shame as the Prime continued down the halls.

I was in deep trouble.

Suddenly, the truck came to a halt, and the passenger door swung open as the seatbelt unbuckled itself. Quietly, I slid out of his cab and took a few steps back, giving my father room to transform.

It took me a moment to realize that were at my father's quarters and I knew instantly that I was to be punished.

Once he was done transforming he stepped forward to insert the access code before ushering me inside.

"Face the corner and do not come out until I say so." His tone was stern and hard. I maximized and allowed him to lead me to a random corner in the room.

I opened my mouth to argue but quickly closed it once I detected the hint of warning in his tone.

This was an order that I knew not to go against.

As I pressed my face against the wall I heard him walk off to another part of his quarters. I frowned at the sudden silence that filled the room and began to shift uncomfortably.

Ten minutes had passed before my father returned, stopping just a few feet behind me. I could feel his eyes burning a hole in the back of my head and I began to fidget at the heavy silence that lied between us.
