Chapter 92: Daily Explosions

"Are you serious?"

"Yes, I'm very serious."

I crossed my arms and managed a glare at the towering bot sitting in the large office chair. "But Dad, that's not fair!"

"Oh?" He raised an optic ridge and lowered the datapad in his hands. "How so?"

"Because you know what happened last time when I was sent to the school!"

"And I'm sure you remember the consequences of what will happen if you were ever to include yourself in such violent activities." He said with a slight warning tone.

"Well, it's not my fault people are mean. Maybe if I didn't go to school it wouldn't happen."

"Or perhaps if you learned a better way of handling certain situations-"

"It still wouldn't work!" I argued. "Only way a fight could be prevented from happening is if I just don't go to school. Ever."

"Honestly, I don't understand the fuss, Liza. You do well in school. You're an intelligent girl, you receive good grades and your behavior is good...the majority of the time."

I rolled my eyes and I crossed my legs on his office desk. "Yeah well, how come you guys just homeschool me like you've been doing before?"

"We aren't always around to help educate you, Liza. I figured that if you were sent to school, you would be able to socialize with human children and have a better understanding of the human culture. Plus you are keeping a low profile by blending in and pretending to be a normal human child." He explained.

"Yeah, but we live on a top-secret base where everything is classified, dad. Nobody is supposed to know that there is a secret organization that takes down bad aliens. Nobody even knows we are even here and I happen to be on that top-secret base, so technically I don't exist."

He gave me a 'Are you serious right now' look and set the datapad down, crossing his big arms across his chest. "....uh-huh."

"Well, it's true!" I argued, trying not to laugh at the fact that I made him break character. "I shouldn't exist like the rest of you."

"Liza, I feel as if though you are bothered by something."

"But I don't wanna go I-"

"Liza." My father's voice interrupted. "Instead of making up excuses, how about you tell me the real reason why you don't want to go to school."

My gaze drifted and I began to fidget with my fingers in my lap. "But I-"

"Ah!" He gently set a thick finger under my chin and forced me to look at him. "Tell me the truth, my dear. What is truly bothering you?"

"Well, I..." I hesitated before opening my mouth. "I-I just...I-"

I gave him an uneasy look and received an encouraging nod in return. "Go on. You can tell me anything."

I allowed my attention to fall to my lap before I answered. "I-I'm uncomfortable, dad."

"What causes you to be uncomfortable, Liza?" He urged.

I shrugged. "I don't know...it's just...I feel out of place there. Everyone else is familiar with one another and I...I just feel like an outcast compared to them."

"You see the humans as superior towards yourself?"

He guided my gaze back to him with his finger."No, it's not that...they're humans and I'm not. I feel like I don't belong there surrounded by the other children. I can't learn the things they do, I see things differently than them."
