Chapter 100: Final Leave
_______________________________________________Optimus
She was upset.
Her emotions and feelings were flooding through their family bond like a river. He could feel her pain, anger, stress, and sorrow. It was all so overwhelming and it bothered him.
The Prime quickened his pace, desperate to reach his distressed daughter.
Optimus didn't bother knocking once he reached her door. He typed in the code and stepped in to face a sight that would haunt him in his nightmares.
There she was. His trembling daughter was curled up on her berth, her wings draped over her small body as violent sobs racked her body. One servo was tucked underneath her body while the other was tucked under her chin, occasionally wiping away the nonstop tears.
Boomer lay curled up beside her and whimpered softly at his sad owner. He ducked his head down to lick at her face but she just turned and pushed him away.
It looked like she had been crying for hours and it didn't seem she was gonna stop any time soon until she tired herself out.
Seeing her like this...seeing either of his children like this broke his spark. Hurt. Broken. Sad. Pain.
Once the door slid shut, the Prime walked over and carefully settled his weight on the berth beside the young femme. "Sweetspark," He reached out to her. She flinched violently at his touch. There was a glance of fear before her expression quickly shifted back to sadness.
She hadn't even noticed his presence in the room until now.
"Darling, what's wrong-oh " Suddenly she was clinging to him like a lifeline, shocking the Prime for a brief moment before he wrapped his strong arms around his daughter's form.
He caressed her head and rubbed circles into her back. "Tell papa what's wrong."
Optimus already knew the problem but it'd be best if she was to get it out on her own.
The femme refused to look at him and kept her head buried between his shoulder and neck as she continued to sob.
He set her on his thigh and waited until she decided to address him.
After many minutes of comforting and soft murmurs, the young femme finally spoke. "D-Daddy..."
Turning his head slightly, the Prime responded, "Yes, Sweetspark?"
"W-Why do they w-want u-us gone?"
It wasn't a hard question but it was a hard answer to give. The human's choice wasn't...exactly right but Sentinel's betrayal was his fault and he took full responsibility for it. He told the humans and his Autobots to trust Sentinel and it only resulted in violence and death.
This was his fault.
When he hesitated to answer, she pulled away slightly to face him. "Tell me."
Her teary optics demanded the truth yet she seemed hesitant to know why. She was hurt and she wanted a better understanding.
"Sentinel activated the pillars and...there was an invasion last night. The humans believe we are a threat to Earth and have decided that it would be best for us to leave."
"But we're not." Liza grasped his shoulders. "How can we be a threat if we're protecting them?"
That he wished he knew. No matter how many lives were saved or how many times the world was saved from destruction, some humans remain ungrateful for their sacrifices.
