"Wake up"
Elfman groaned as loud voice spoke to him the words causing his head to ache further with each syllable as the words bounced around his head. The dregs of sleep and wooziness left Elfman feeling lethargic and tired, his body not responding at all to the loud voice's commands and Elfman's only wish was to continue sleeping.
"WAKE UP"
Elfman howled in pain as two incredibly hard objects slammed against his temples, his migraine spiking as his head felt like it was being split open and shaken around. Elfman's eyes opened like shutters his vision tumbling and spinning as he tried to focus in front of him to where a familiar dark figure stood. Gasps rattled Elfman's lungs as he lent his head backwards trying to take in as much oxygen as he can, but his breathing left him haggard and maybe even more sick feeling from the cold moist air. Ignoring Advorsus, Elfman pressed his forehead into his cool skin on his raised arm wincing in pain as the sudden pressure moved his arm, slowly looking up Elfman watched small trickles of blood run down his arm as the tight iron manacles bit into his wrists. Groaning Elfman lifted his head back off his arm, his wrists, shoulders and neck aching in pain as he faced forwards glaring hatefully at Advorsus who was flexing his hands thoughtfully.
"Good you are awake, you will need to be aware for a while now anyway. Now I know this seems unnecessary.. " Advorsus began shrugging his shoulders exasperatedly "But I need to verify: You are indeed Elfman Strauss?"
Elfman glared and spat at his captors feet barely a meter away.
"I take that as a yes, and you are in possession of the Manticore soul?"
Elfman growled tearing his eyes off of Advorsus as he saw a figure appear behind him keeping his face completely in the shadows. Elfman watched intently as the surgeon twisted momentarily to speak to this new comer both of their voices echoing through the cavern and down into the chasm as they spoke. Twisting Elfman looked back up at his bleeding wrists biting his lip as he tried to twist them free pain being his only response. Gritting his teeth Elfman concentrated on his arm watching it glow as it changed into one of his beasts arms, but to his horror the manacle only grew with his wrist still biting deeply into his flesh. Biting back his tongue from the pain Elfman began to change shape once more to try to escape the chains ignoring the realization of how futile it may seem.
"...but I now know that along with a few of his guild mates his sister and your daughter are among the group heading this way"
Elfman froze and immediately looked towards the new comer readily recognizing his scent of Calador, with ears pricked Elfman listened in more intently.
"Ahh I see now I'm not surprised that someone has come to get him back, but I am mildly surprised that my daughter is with them I thought she would take my warning more seriously" Advorsus said tapping his chin thoughtfully.
"Perhaps I should intercept them?" Calador said his head pulling to the side as he grinned psychotically at Elfman his pointed teeth gleaming.
"No not yet if they wish to collect what remains of the dear chap behind me then they shall, but they may regret coming after I'm through with him"
"Oh I wish very much to help with that" Calador whispered menacingly his hand reaching out towards Elfman itching to cause him pain. When suddenly a gloved hand closed like a vice around his wrist.
"You will not lay a finger on him until I say so, and even then I doubt I will let you" Advorsus said letting some of his dark magic flow onto Calador's arm feeling the bones began to twist from an old injury."Or I will undo the magic I used to put you back together a little bit at a time" Advorsus continued letting the Calador's arm deteriorate further ignoring his hisses in pain as he stared him down.
"Very well I shall do nothing for now" Calador muttered removing his wrist from Advorsus's slackened grip his arm fixing its self as he twisted around and retreated to the distant door way. At the entrance Calador suddenly froze his face twisting around to look directly at Elfman his white eyes gleaming behind his filthy hair before he finally exited the room the door slamming in his wake.
With a sigh Advorsus turned back around towards Elfman his hands clasped behind his back as he observed him.
"I can see you've figured it out" the surgeon said looking up at Elfman's wrist still dripping blood " They re size them selves automatically to grow or shrink to the users wrist as they change, you don't have any chance of escaping with out outside help" Advorsus said taking a step forward towards the edge of the long bridge.
"Yeah and by the looks of that outside help will be here soon" Elfman said grinning at advorsus.
Advorsus said nothing his bright purple eyes staring directly into his for a long time until "That was your doing those injuries that I fixed on Calador, all yours. It is only my magic that is keeping him alive unless he gets hit by a fatal blow"
"That scum deserved it" Elfman snarled, his mind flashing back to the base of the Oltayna mountains where he and Evergreen first encountered Calador.
"I'm sure he did" Advorsus said reaching his hand out and above himself "Oh and I'm sure this won't hurt a bit". A single magic circle appeared above Elfman electricity zipping through it as the circle suddenly slammed down on top of him. The most intense pain Elfman had ever experienced attacked him. Yelling out from the pain Elfman thrashed and twisted in a intense seizure as wave after wave of pain began to attack his body his mind nearly blacking out from it. Slowly the pain began to cease leaving Elfman an aching body, his shoulders in complete agony and a headache fit to explode, groaning Elfman slowly looked up through blurry eyes at Advorsus who stared at him with wide eyed wonder.
"Amazing" Advorsus muttered "Absolutely amazing".
Elfman lifted his head up further, yelping in pain from his mangled shoulders as he did. Elfman stared wide eyed as he saw his hands had turned into large lions paws with massive claws his blood still leaking onto his white fur and a large scorpions tail dangling above his head.
Advorsus quickly removed a magic pen from his coat and started writing in fancy link writing in the air. "With point six magic power both the claws and tail have appeared, I personally expected slightly more but progress will be made" Advorsus spoke as he wrote looking blankly at Elfman's pale and stressed form before continuing "Subject has dislocated both shoulders during seizures an obvious lack of water and the beginnings of dehydration has begun to take effect". With a push of his hands the bright writing in the air disappeared through a cave wall floating to some unknown destination. "Well that was a very interesting experience" Advorsus mused out loud watching as Elfmans body began to glow and return back to normal. "Oh and so you know the more of the manticore we see the more we can analyze and replicate that magic to create our own manticore completely bound to our will. Fascinating isn't it"
"Go to hell" Elfman muttered spitting out a bit of blood in his mouth watching it fall into the dark abyss below him.
"But you are already here" Advorsus spoke over his shoulder as he stalked towards the large entrance, "Oh and so you don't die over night" Advorsus yelled raising his hand and snapping his fingers, looking up meaningfully.
Slowly Elfman looked up his eyes widening as a huge volume of water floated above him the bubble stretching out as far as the cavern its self and nearly touching the roof.
"Drink up"
And with those words hundreds of pounds of water dumped it self on top of Elfman making him scream from the pain, nearly causing him to drown as the water saturated him leaving him coughing up water from his lungs his shoulders in agony.
Elfman's eyes looked down into the bottomless pit watching water drip off of his hair and clothes and plummet to a never ending doom.
"Ever"
