Three days have passed since Elfman's awakening; and all the guys were delighted that he had woken up and that he can see. But there was a problem. Everyone was aware that he had definitely changed and maybe not for the better. Physically, he had lost a lot of his muscle weight and was almost the size he was before the grand magic games. Not only that but his face also looked different, or so Evergreen thought. His cheekbones are far more prominent that they cast small shadows over his face in the right light giving him a roguish and dangerous look. Stubble also coated his jaw and lower face which Evergreen liked as it made him look mature, but it was also his eyes that had changed a lot, and it scared her. They were the same cobalt blue woven from the sky, but when ever Evergreen looked in his eyes they seemed so scared and hollow and they were constantly seeking out people for companionship. Often at night Evergreen didn't sleep and stayed awake with him, holding him, stroking his back up and down and whispering words of love in his ear. He hardly communicated with anyone including Evergreen and Mirajane with the magic pen he was given to write with, often using hand gestures and pointed looks. And Evergreen loathed to leave him alone too. Whenever she did he stared off into the distance and began to shiver, despite the way he tried to find someway to keep himself occupied. But Evergreen knew he needed to talk or write about it, but it was all so fresh and wounding for him, that neither Evergreen nor Mirajane knew when to ask him to write about it. Basically everyone was walking on eggshells around him, and he was quite aware of it but he didn't know what to do. Elfman was also aware that Evergreen was hurting from her father's death, at first he was confused and angry that she mourned because of what he did to himself and to her. But he soon realized that she wasn't mourning from his death, but rather mourning from the lack of fatherly love she never had. And that made Elfman feel better. Slightly.
But now it was the fourth night in the penthouse of the hotel and one of the rare times both Elfman and Evergreen were asleep at the same time. Thrashing under the sheets, Elfman's face was pinched with pain and in his sleep purple eyes looked into his own.
"Do I see fear, do I see fear, do I see fear?" Advorsus's voice muttered in the dark cavern and echoed eerily over and over again.
"I don't know, I don't know, I don't know..." His voice whispered.
"How do I tell? Should I tell?" Elfman felt chain's hoist him up and yank at his shoulders. He groaned in his sleep.
"What do you see, what do you see?" the floating eyes said barely a rulers length away from Elfman's face.
"You" Elfman groaned in the dream, but his voice in reality screeched and air escaped him harshly.
"What do you hear, what do you hear?" Sharp clicks of the insect's claws, legs and mandibles snapped next to Elfman's ears, and increased until it sounded like thousands of the creatures where swarming him.
Elfman's body hanging by the chains shuddered violently and he twisted left and right, trying to find a way out of this pitch black world. "No" Elfman whispered and thrashed in reality and in his dream.
"What do you feel?" His voice boomed in his ears now and the terribly familiar pain of the insect ripped inside of him. Elfman screamed in his dream and the pain became worse and worse until he sat bolt right up, making Evergreen fall off of his chest who yelped, and clenched at the bed sheets in a cold sweat.
I need to get out Elfman thought and looked at the sliding door with wide eyes and threw himself out of bed, and only in his pants raced for the balcony and jumped over the edge into the night.
