'Oh god...' Elfman felt his innards boil from pain. 'The pain... stop the pain' Elfman felt his face pinch as he woke up slowly from his slumber.

"...That is your own fault boy" Radagan whispered in his head.

'Enough...' Elfman thought.

"Enough?! I thought the pain we went through together in the pit was enough! But you threw yourself in front of that girl because of your stupidly chivalrous and sickly in love attitude for that girl".

'Don't you dare think that I wouldn't do it again for her!' Elfman growled and winced as his throat stretched and was once again sore, and thick from screaming. 'At least that proves that we aren't still in the pit if they had to come looking for us' the man thought.

"..."

Elfman felt two warm somethings pressed against his side and another something gently touched his face. Elfman opened his eyes and winced at the sunlight that blasted into his face. Eventually his eyes cleared and Elfman blinked up Evergreen's face that frowned at his from the side.

"Ever" Elfman mouthed and winced again at the sun.

"Here" Evergreen said softly and with her other hand pressed a full glass of water to his lips. Her other hand pushed under his head and held it up for him to drink. Elfman took a sip of water and immediately tried to gulp the rest of the water down his parched throat.
"Hey take it easy" Evergreen said tenderly and Elfman forced himself to take smaller sips. Still quickly the tumbler was drained and Elfman felt a wet cough try to hitch up his throat. Choking Elfman felt his eyes blur and Evergreen placed a bowl under his lips. His throat burned with pain, but Elfman let himself cough and winced as he coughed up blood. Evergreen gently placed his head back on the pillow and stroked his white hair. Elfman cringed and looked at his stomach; eyeing the large wound in his stomach that Wendy had healed to the best of her abilities. Forcing his eyes to look away, Elfman looked to Lisanna and Mirajane, lying on the bed next to him, their small forms hunched in their exhausted slumber. Lisanna was the closest to him, her fingers gripping his arm, and her face close for comfort, but not close enough to aggravate Elfman's wounds.

"Mirajane was the first to fall asleep" Evergreen stroked his brow and Elfman looked at her.
"I think she hopes that she would wake up with you. Hasn't stirred yet though. Lisanna, despite her efforts to stay awake by your side, soon fell asleep next to you".

"And you?" Elfman mouthed, his eyes soft on her's.

"Me?" Evergreen nearly laughed and looked away, but Elfman noticed that her voice was thick. "I wouldn't and couldn't be able to sleep for the past two nights even if Wendy put me to sleep".

"Ever..." Elfman mouthed and touched the top of her hand that rested on the bed. "Are you alright?".

"Am I alright? No, no I don't think I am" Evergreen's bottom lip trembled. "I don't feel alright after what happened. After seeing that video" Evergreen couldn't stop her voice from breaking. "And seeing that happen to you in person. And I am not alright because of how guilty I feel".

"Ever this isn't your fault!" Elfman mouthed at her.

"Elfman I feel guilty because you took that for me. And you were terrified and already in pain" Evergreen sniffled. "And I feel so much worse witnessing that happen to you. I felt awful because of the relief I felt, that that insect didn't crawl into me!" Evergreen sobbed and started to cry into her hands.

Elfman felt his heart pinch with deliberate slowness, reached a hand down and gently rubbed the top of her thigh.
"Ever" Elfman mouthed and gestured at her to come closer as she looked at him. Evergreen lent down and Elfman touched her shoulder to bring her nearer. Evergreen pulled herself onto the bed and snuggled up to his free side with a tight, guilt ridden body.
