Chapter 26: Meeting

POV: Azure

The Emerald green Phoenix with blue-gray eyes was sitting in a middle size cave with three other Great Beasts. However, unlike her, they were all purebloods.

They were in the giant cave systems that had been their hideout for the last ten years. For ten years, they had been plotting to take the throne, but they anticipated an Angel helping them.

She sighed as Volatus, the odd white wings with a black body, Griffin was digging into a turkey. Hebes, the dull color, Sphinx looked bored and rather be killed at any moment. However, Caeruleum, the blue Dragon was standing next to the table looking at the map.

They were misfits, but this is her family.

Volatus acted as their caretaker as he found all of them and offered them protection.

"Volatus, I don't think our boss will like you torturing the Queen," Azure stated.

Azure only met the boss once, but she couldn't tell what she was looking at as he had no shape. All Azure could tell that he had red wings that faded to white. All other times, the boss has been in the shapes of animals, but never other Great Beasts.

The boss explained that Angels cannot shift into other Great Beast because of their blood and the inability to connect with the other Elements. Azure wondered if it was possible to connect to the Elements that you are not born or hatch with.

"Azure, please be quiet. I am eating." Volatus explained in an annoyed tone.

"I don't see why you care that she lives anyway? I mean, Queen Roseis is not a potential heir, and her husband is not a Great Beast or a gift bearer." Hebes point out. "Besides, the boss made it clear not to harm the Angels, and the only Royal he mentioned not to spill blood is the Leopard-girl that got away."

"I didn't even think she existed until I saw you getting your tail handed to you." Caeruleum snorted, causing Hebes to glare at him.

Azure sighed. *I am not going to get anywhere with them.* She thought. *I know the boss wants more than the throne as he always talks about a Griffin ascending the throne will cause a shift in the balance.*

The Phoenix groaned and stood up. She left the room and wasn't shocked that no one noticed. They all treated her differently because she was a mix-breed.

Not only that, Azure is what they call a blank, meaning that she has it all. Shifting, power, and she lived.

Azure walked aimlessly down the winding hallway and found herself in front of the boss's study.

*Well, at least he doesn't treat me differently.* Azure thought. The boss and she had an odd relationship as he was always looking after her. However most of the time, Azure didn't even know it was him as he shifted into different animals. She thinks he does this in a way to spy on them, which she wouldn't put it passed him.

*Knock knock*

Azure held her breath as the boss was almost never in the study during the day. He only came out at night and kept the boys in check.

"Azure, due come in." Said a voice behind the door.

*How did he know it was me?* Azure wondered but assumed that might be an Angel talent.

The Phoenix opens the door and then shuts it. The first thing she noticed about the boss was that he chose to take Native people to form.

Azure open the study to find the room had two bookcases on either side of his desk, which were a light cream color. In the chair was a Native person that wasn't really human. His black wavy hair flattered his pale skin. The boss's outfit was something she had never seen any native person wear before as it was a smooth top and blue pants. He even wore black coverings over his feet.
