POV: Rex

"WAIT!!!!" Rex shouted as he shifted back to his tiger form uncontrollably. Thus, causing the Native person to become startled and nearly drop the crown.

Hail caught it in time as it glowed in his talons. The snowy owl Griffin could never shift between his Great Beast or animal form. He would forever remain as a mix-breed form. It was gathered cool looking and had no chances of hiccups.

Uncle Claws told the Prince earlier in the month about hiccups. It was when a mix-breed or Gift would have trouble controlling their abilities or shifting. It mainly affected Phoenix as they have a hard time controlling their emotions, but would occur in any Great Beast, at any time.

"WATCH IT!!!!" Hail growled at Rex as he helped the Native person up and away from the edge. "Prince Rex, I pray to the Stars of Fate that you have a good reason for almost causing the crown to fall?!" It was clear that the snowy Griffin was holding back his temper.

"I don't think I deserve the crown." There was a grasp of Rex's words, but they mainly came from the crowd. The Bengal tiger looked inward and noticed his mother smiling at him.

"What do you-" Hail started as he was the only other to speak.

Even his uncle remained silent as if he turned to stone.

"I lost the challenge. I wasn't the one that won it. It was Swamp," Rex spoke as Hail looked at the Swamp Monster and gave him a disgusted look. "Thus, I lost my right to the throne."

"But...." Hail looked at Rex and then at the crown. "You are the true heir? Don't you want it?"

The Bengal tiger with navy eyes shook his head. "I thought I did, as I fought throughout my life to prove to everyone that I could be a great King, just like my mother." He paused, taking a deep breath. Rex turned his body to face the crowd. "But I always dream of becoming a guard for my mother or one of my siblings. I have always been great at doing that. So..."

The Prince stopped talking as something caught his eye. Kadupul had a brilliant aura around her that was only faint not even a minute ago. It was different to Currere as hers was pretty brown or his mother's, which rival the sun. Finally, Rex looked at his father's and noticed nothing was there. Leona and Claws also had no auras.

"Well, are you going to act like a statue or...?" Hail asked.

*I understand now.* Rex remembered what the light had been telling him. The Prince did not realize what the light that Swamp describe was talking about, until now. *Only those with Griffin's heart, Angel's spirit, and magic could rule. Without these things then all would....*

"It's time for a change! The YEAR OF THE TIGER SHALL REIN NO MORE AS AN NEW ANIMAL IS CALLED!!!!" Rex roared, causing the sun to vanish.

Screams were heard as the whole island went dark. No one could see, even if they could fair better in low light. The Earth shook, and then a light appeared.

Then more.

The Stars of Snow came into view, causing everyone to look at the sky. It had been a tiger shape for the longest time. The animal before was an elephant, and now it was changing once again.

The stars started to swirl around as if a twister made of light was forming. Colors appeared, and Rex had no idea that stars could be any color other than red, yellow, blue, and white.

It stopped taking a form of a fox.

The sun appeared moments later but could not outshine the Stars of Fate. It was history was repeating itself but with a different. The moon appeared in the sky as well. It was like everything was being challenged by science and magic.
