POV: Rex

Rex was pinned to the ground. Was it just him, or did the cave gets darker? The stone floor was nothing like he used to, which was strange. The Prince always thought all caves were the same.

He never realized how much stronger Griffins are. The Bengal Tiger thought it was different ages whenever his uncle gave him basic non-Griffin training.

There was one thing Rex found out about this black Griffin with odd white wings. He liked to talk, and he planned on using that against him.

*I might still die, but at least I can feed my curiosity about why the Griffin was going through all of this.* Rex thought, then felt bad as anyone from his family would kill him for just throwing his life so easily.

"I never Griffins are this strong." Rex started very weakly of getting the Griffin to talk. It seemed to work as the next thing you know that Griffin started his speech as if he prepared for it. "I never got your name. My name is Rex, but you probably knew that already."

"Runts like you never fully understand what real power is. So, as I said before, it will be easy to take out the trash." The Griffin hissed. "However, despite it being useless telling a corpse this. I think it's unfair that I know your name, but you don't know mine. It's Volatus, and soon it will be King Volatus."

Rex struggle under Volatus weight. The Bengal tiger was starting to realize that it wasn't just his weight that kept him from moving. It was something more as it was a skill that came from being a Griffin.

Then suddenly. out of the blue something came flying from the darkness and landed on Volatus. Something dripped on Rex's body before both males realized what happened.

"GAHHHH!" Volatus screamed, and Rex felt enough weight shift from him to allow him to escape.

That was when he realized there was an arrow in his wing. Not just any arrow mind you as Volatus screamed and was trying to grab the arrow.

The arrow looked familiar as Rex studied it as he dodge Volatus's struggling attempts. A noise was heard to his left, and the brown tiger looked. Someone very familiar stood in the darkness.

The figure took a step closer, and that is when Rex got a better look and had no doubt of who she was. It was Elfie, his Uncle Claws cub. She was completely pink being of a birth defect from being a mixed breed of a monkey and elf. However, she was shorter than most Elves. Two more scents; the Leopard girl, his cousin Cursor, and an unknown fox.

"Good shot Elfie, but I prefer daggers over arrows any day." Cursor stated with a smile as she came out of the darkness.

The fox turned out to be a Bat Eared fox, but she didn't say much.

Rex smiled at his cousins as allowed their scents to fill his nose. He was happy to see them but felt a sense of danger.

"Well, I prefer a King that doesn't kill to get the throne," Elfie said as she pulled her arrow back again on her bow. The monkey Elf let it go, and it landed on Volatus's knee.

Volatus glared at the arrow, then at the females. "You seemed to forget that Griffins can handle their limbs being removed and still able to fight!" He said with a laugh as he stared forward.

Without even thinking Rex shifts his body to stand in between his cousins and Volatus.

"And looks like the Runt still wants to play the hero." Volatus hissed. "But I am not surprised the instinct of a Griffin is strong even without training." The Griffin paused. "How do you expect to protect them when you can't even protect yourself?"

Suddenly another arrow was released but this time managed to hit Volatus another leg. He only clicked his beak as a response.

"Unlike you, I know true strength when I see it," Elfie said. "Rex is much stronger than anyone could have guessed, and that is with being a Runt!" She paused as she walked over by Rex. "And you think my father didn't teach me the weakness of his own tribe? Try walking from a poison that can even take out Great Beasts larger than you."
