I AWOKE to a dreadful pain on the tip of my nose as the memories of last night rang through my head. I couldn't help but let a small laugh escape my lips as I remembered how we had escaped last night.

Of course, I knew how dangerous it was to escape. Everyone knows that you don't get wild wolves in England, and if we had been spotted... well, it wouldn't have ended well for any of us.

Sitting up, I managed to stretch my arms high above my head and I could already tell that all my joints were going to be aching all day, badly. Turning my head, I notice my adoptive parents waking up too, and they did not look like they wanted to get up either.

"Morning!" I call to them from across the den, trying to sound as cheery as possible.

"Morning, Lia." Mother replied, the tiredness clear in her voice.

It was then that I noticed dad rubbing his stomach with an aching scowl on his face. Smirking, I say to him, "I guess that chicken didn't rub off too well, huh?"

"Oh, shush, Lia." He replied with a small smile. Hearing the familiar sound of Maddy's footsteps running down the basement steps, the door unlocks to reveal an angry looking Maddy.

"I can't believe you three! Breaking out and raiding the bins?" She exclaimed, and she did not look happy to find her half eaten shoe on the floor after, "Oh, Lia!"

I cringed as I realised it must have been me who ate half her shoe - my theory was confirmed when I began to taste the rubber sole in my mouth.

Pushing that disgusting thought out of my head, I turned to my sister and I could've sworn her face was getting red, "What time is it, Mads?"

"Half past get the hell up." And with that she stormed up the stairs, her half eaten shoe in hand.

Once I was certain she was gone, I flopped back on my mattress to get at least five more minutes of sleep.

After scrubbing my mouth three times over with toothpaste, I finally managed to convince myself that any dirt or germs on Maddy's shoe was gone from my mouth; the thought still lingered though.

Wrestling my auburn hair into a braid that reached my waist, I shoved my textbooks and folders in my bag, grabbed it, and ran down the staircase, preparing myself for Maddy's long rant.

"You always say how we have to 'stay hidden from humans' and 'to never give in to our wolf selves' and the first chance you get, you're out of the cellar and away!"
