The sisters explained everything that had happened to Tom as Emma continued trying to wake up her husband. Lia suspected it was the tea and cake that had knocked him unconscious. She noticed rose petals in the tea and mixed into the cream on the cakes, and she assumed it was the rose petals from the "mechanical flower" they had seen in the shop earlier.

Maddy tugged at Tom's chains, "How could she do it? She's our best friend!"

"You two don't really believe she'd side with them, do you?" Tom asked, frowning. Lia scoffed, blinking away her tears as she looked over at Daniel, "She's been spying on us for months, Tom. Gathering data, recording all of our transformations. If she was really doing all of that to keep us safe, she would have told us."

Tom shook his head, refusing to believe what he was hearing, "No. No, she wouldn't share that with anyone."

"She's sharing it with them now!" Maddy argued, gesturing to the floor above them.

"You don't really believe that, do you?" Tom asked them, worry clear in his eyes, but he blinked it away, needing to reassure them, "Trust me, you pair, Shan'll get us out of this, okay?"

Lia heard Emma speaking, and her body flooded with relief when she heard Dan's voice, "Emma." He laughed, as did his wife as she leaned forward to press a kiss to his lips. Lia smiled, walking over, "You okay, Dad?"

He nodded, leaning toward her and she wrapped her arms around him, hugging him, pulling away only so that she could examine his handcuffs. They were the same as Tom's, iron and chunky and impossible to break. She had debated using her powers, of course, she had, but she was concerned that the light wouldn't be hot enough to melt the iron, and even if it was, it would burn them. She did another quick scan of the room - no tools in sight.

Dan sighed, "He deliberately sabotaged the car," he stated, then proceeded to do an impression of the man, "'Oh, do excuse me, the pumps are playing up!'"

"Proves my point," Maddy murmured, "You can't trust anyone."

Lia turned at the sound of pounding footsteps, and she was surprisingly happy to see Shannon's face, "I've got the key!" she grinned. The girl dashed over to unlock Tom and Daniel's handcuffs after unlocking the door.

They wasted no time in getting the hell out of there. They dashed back down the corridor, the dripping leaks from the ceiling sounding like a clock, counting down the seconds they had to get away. They ran up the stairs, taking them two at a time and ran down the maze of corridors until they reached the front door. Lia welcomed the fresh air and the daylight, even the rain which was now pouring.

They surrounded the front of the car where the bonnet was propped up, exposing the engine, "How do we get it started?" Maddy asked urgently. Dan shrugged, clueless, "He probably just yanked a wire out or something."

Tom turned to Shannon, "Don't you know?"

She deadpanned him, "I can't even drive!"

Tom groaned, "You know everything else!"

Shannon gave him a look and started jogging back toward the house. Maddy called after her, "Where are you going?"

"To get my laptop!" She called, not even looking back.

"Uh, no you're not!" Maddy insisted. Shannon scoffed, turning around, "What, you want to leave it in there with them?!" she ran inside, her explanation reasonable. If they got away, it wouldn't even matter because the insane couple would have more evidence that they could ever need to go to the police with.

Lia looked down at the engine, even though she didn't know the first thing about cars, but she needed to do something. She couldn't just stand there helplessly. As Daniel worked at the engine, Emma looked up at the kids, "Get in, you three, quickly!"
