THE BELL rang before we even got the chance to go and look elsewhere for this wolfblood. In defeat we made our way back to form, which unfortunately, was with Mr Jeffries.

Slumping down in my seat, I grabbed my book to read to take my mind off it. But I couldn't. The scent was so different, so new. It was killing my brain trying to figure out who it was, why they were here and most importantly, if they meant trouble.

I was dragged out of my thoughts when Jeffries started speaking, "Welcome aboard! My name is Mr Jeffries and I'm your head of year as well as your form tutor..."

My eyes stopped scanning the lines of my book. I froze. A new student. And there was that smell again, really strong this time.

"Everyone! This is Rhydian Morris."

My head snapped up in realisation. But the boy standing at the front of the room was nothing like I'd expected. He looked so shy, so vulnerable. But I could see that there was more to him than that. There was a kind of hardness behind his blue eyes, like he could defend himself if he needed to, like he followed his natural instincts, as if there was something deep about his past.

I managed to conquer the energy that I felt rush up inside of me. It was so new that my wolf wanted to pounce out. I took a breath and turned around to face Maddy, I could tell she was struggling too.

Everyone else looked at him with a peculiar look and I could understand why. It wasn't often a new person came into town. Our town was so rural and far away from the city that Stoneybridge was often overlooked by people on maps and such.

"I'm guessing that you're from Wales?" Mr Jeffries asked Rhydian. The blonde boy looked at him with a bored expression as simply said, "No."

The class laughed at his attitude. We all loved Mr Jeffries but he could be very overexcited at times and none of us had the mental capacity for a long, enthusiastic talk about fossils.

Maddy stood up, I looked at her, shaking my head rapidly but she didn't catch my eye. She was focused on Rhydian. The next words that came out of her mouth made me cover my face with my hands in embarrassment, "You smell like my parents."

Laughter erupted around the room, but I made sure to shoot a look at anyone laughing.

"Alright, alright. Quieten down everyone." Then he muttered something to Rhydian. The boy made his way to the back of the class. When he caught my eye, his lips parted as if he had realised that he wasn't the only wolfblood in town. I looked away quickly. I couldn't tell if it was relief or shock that washed over his defined features, but it made my heart flutter nonetheless.
