THE PAST couple of days had been torture, but thankfully, Monday had finally arrived, which meant that I was free from my house for a whole six hours. And yes, those hours would be spent at school, but it was better than staring at the same four walls.

Besides, I would get to see my friends, and gift them something that the three of us had been secretly working on over the weekend.

Rhydian had snuck up to the house and given us two drawings of three wolves, our wolves, to gift as presents for Tom and Shannon saving us. It was a subtle gift, in their eyes a thank you for being so kind to some innocent wolves. But really, it was a massive thank you from us for literally saving our lives. As we could never tell them, for obvious reasons, it made us feel better.

I had watercolored the beautiful sketches and Maddy had framed them. Now it was time to give them to them.

Walking out of that house was a breath of fresh air, literally, and me and Maddy had smiles on our faces that reached our ears as we walked up to school. The three if us had agreed to arrive early so that we had time to make some final adjustments to the gifts.

We met in the darkroom and after exchanging some hugs, we sat down and made sure that all was in order. All that was left to do was to text Tom and Shannon about an emergency.

The three of us sat for at least ten minutes after Shannon had replied, alerting us that she and Tom were on their way. I absentmindedly spun in my chair, waiting for them to arrive.

Suddenly, the door burst open, revealing our two panicked friends who looked as if they'd just seen a ghost. We all quickly stood up and me and Maddy hid the frames behind our backs, not wanting to ruin the surprise.

"What's the emergency?!" Shannon asked us urgently.

The three of us smiled before Rhydian spoke up, "We sort of... lied about the emergency."

Their faces fell in both disbelief and confusion. I cleared my throat, "Actually, we've got something for you." I said, barely containing my excitement.

Maddy smiled brightly, "On behalf of the wolves that you so bravely protected, we'd like to present you with these."

On cue, we both held out the drawings. Both their faces lit up in delight at the gifts before them. Wide smiles spread across their faces as they took them from our grasps.

"Woah!" Tom exclaimed as he stared down at it.

"They're amazing!" Shannon complimented, her grin matching ours.

"Rhydian drew them, Lia painted them and I framed them." Maddy informed them.

"They look exactly like the wolves we saw, don't they Tom?" Shannon asked the boy beside him after examining it more closely. Tom nodded in agreement.
