Chapter Forty: Bulk Up!
“Calm your mind!” Maya bellowed. I was standing in front of Niamh and for the first time I was going to deliberately control the forces around me. I’d never actually done it deliberately but this was a start. I closed my eyes and focused, letting all my energy gathers around my entire body and even the air around me. I imagined my energy ejecting from my body and into my surrounding to coat my entire body. Suddenly I felt the same shift that I felt last time, opening my eyes, I looked at Niamh for a second and then moved behind her. She continued to stare until I saw her react slowly. She eventually sped up and turned around. “Wow! I didn’t even see you move.” She looked up at me a little intimidated. For the first time in a long time, she had been surprised. “Yes that’s it!” Maya shouted from behind me, “I want you to keep doing that but quicker. In a real battle you won’t have the time to focus.” I quickly took heed and gathered my energy again, I knew how to do it this time and I was starting to get the hang of it. We spent the next seven hours perfecting this move until I could easily move around Niamh, who was starting to get used to me ability as well.
After continuously ejecting my own body I was getting exhausted, I suddenly sunk to the floor and blacked out. I tried to catch my balance but I couldn’t help by slip and land on my hands. “Arc!” Both Niamh and Maya shouted. Niamh ran towards me and Maya stood up in worry. “I’m fine. Don’t worry I know what to do.” Niamh took a step back and watched me as I stood up. I focus on the energy in the air and started to absorb the energy around me. The exhaustion I felt was still peculiar to me. My body was physically strong and stable but it was like I ran out of fuel to keep it going. Fortunately I figured out how to solve this issue, I could simply refill it. I felt my body filling up with fuel to keep me moving and I felt good, I’d recovered by myself using my own knowledge.
Maya chuckled in the background and sat back down. “Looks like you have learnt a few more tricks. In that case Niamh, you don’t need to hold back anymore fight him with all your might.” Maya continued to giggle in the background drawing my attention away from Niamh. She pulled out her blades releasing the florescent blue light that shone as a testimony to her power, before the light dimmed down a large sphere of water launched through the air and in my direction. Noticing the large ball of liquid I put my arms up and tensed them preparing myself for the impact. The force from my arms reduced the damage I would have taken as the water collided with me. Without delay five more spheres hurtled in my way. With no time to spare I released energy to coat my body and watched as the balls slowed down, I then run past them and behind Niamh paying attention to the my surrounding slowly speeding up again. The balls hit the side of the walls and splashed into puddles. I lifted up my leg kicking it towards Niamh and into a flip. Instinctively she shifted her head away and turned around to attack with a whip of water but I did a back flip backwards and released another coat of energy.
I then followed through with a slid under the slash of water and kicked my legs up under Niamh’s legs. My leg managed to make contact and send her falling to the floor. As she slowly fell I used my hands as a spring and pushed off against it and into Niamh’s side forcing her to be pushed into the concrete wall. Maya stood up and started clapping, “Well done. That’s what I’m talking about.” After that final release of energy my body felt a little lighter. I noticed that the energy that I had coated around my body had not disappeared, my body was constantly ejecting energy but everyone was running at their normal paces. I could willingly move instantly from spot to spot. With so much adrenaline flowing through my body I stood up and displayed my improved power. My body shifted two meters to the right and then two meters to the left back and forth bouncing up and down constantly on my toes. I watched as a cloud of dust collected around the rubble and the whole in the wall. Through the dust a bright blue light shone through. “I think she’s a little annoyed,” Maya tittered. A large slash of water then shot through the cloud of dust and towards Maya who jumped out of the way laughing. Soon after I heard multiple footsteps coming from Niamh’s direction, I watched as Niamh walked out radiating with anger, another humanoid completely identical to Niamh followed by another then another and another. Each one of them walked into a separate space forming a circle around me.
Each clone gave of an aura of pure anger. A blue tattoo of a trident shone on their chest and each one looked down at the ground with one foot back ready to attack. They acted zombie-like. In joint motion they all lifted up their heads to reveal hollow eyes that glowed with white light, almost instantaneously they all started moving around me, gradually getting faster and faster until they were running at top speed. As I watched helplessly their bodies began to liquefy and turn into water. I felt a sudden jolt in my memory as I remembered what she was doing. The same thing she had done to the beast when she saved me. I felt a large stone form in my throat, I had witnesses this move being performed but I never imagined that I would be in the middle of it. The bodies spread until a solid wall of water had been accomplished. The thin wall of water then began to draw in towards me. The space between me and the wall began to decrease further as the water began to expand inwards and upwards towards the sky.
My head began to spin. The water was absorbing all the oxygen and making it very hard to breath. I tried to run out but the water gracefully pushed me back. I looked up at the sky which seemed to get smaller and further away as the wall of water grew in height. I sunk to my knees and help my hands again my chest which began to hurt because of the lack of oxygen. A small spec of light shone in the sky and down onto me. I simply looked at it until I noticed it getting closer and closer. Larger and larger until it was so close that I could make out what it was. It was Maya. He hurtled towards the ground with one foot sticking out and his arms up in the air to gain speed. I discerned swirls of air surged around him and little crackles and sparks of lighting emitting from his body.
“Moooovee!” He ordered. With a loud crash he touched down in the middle of the watery tornado. The elements of air and lightning released into the ground forced the ground to displace and distort the motion of the water. Maya then punched the air with his fist commanding the air to distort and form an expanding circle of air. With the wall of water already weakened by the unstable ground the pulsating air easily pushed the water back until it hit the pit walls and splashed into a large circular puddle around the edge of the wall. The air rushed back into my lungs causing me to cough. Forgetting about my own problems I stood up and ran towards the water, “Niamh are you ok?” There was no response. The water was still for a good ten seconds but then quickly reformed and collected to form the girl that I knew. She lay on the ground unconscious and cold, not even breathing.
