Chapter Seventeen: The Garment Of A God
I had a terrible nightmare that night. It was one of those falling dreams, you know. When you just feel like you’re falling in pitch darkness forever and there seems to be no end, but Mayamiko saved me from that nightmare. She ran into my room and jumped on my bed. “Come on Arc!” she screamed. “Father is calling you,” she shook me until I opened my eyes and started laughing. She then jumped off and simply left, what I way to wake up. I had gotten a little dirty yesterday but for some reason the clothes I was wearing where completely clean. The stitching I had damaged looked fresh and the silk was smooth. Maya trotted into the room and asked “Why are you not dressed? We are to leave soon?”“Sorry, I was just a bit baffled as to why the clothes are in such good condition. I was sure I got a smudge of mud here when I fell, but it’s gone,” I pointed to the spot where I fell, and looked at him. His laughter quickly filled the room, “It is gown blessed by a God, and you honestly think a little mud would waver its beauty.” He walked towards me and took the clothes from me, “This is special material, as I have already said,” he slowly turned around and made his way to the door,” As long as it is not completely destroyed, it will heal and repair itself, it will help you keep clean and protect you but you must honour it and do it justice.” As he walked past the door, he flung the clothes behind him; I quickly dashed forward and caught them.
I quickly changed and put on my magic garments. I ran down the little hall and into the living room, Sarah was by the table eating along with Mayamiko, she looked up at me and smile, “He just left dear, you should be able to catch up to him.” I smiled back and thanked her, then proceeded to the door. As I stepped outside, I noticed Maya walking outside the village, some of the villagers were moving about, some working, playing or just going for a stroll.
“Maya,” I shouted. Some of the villagers looked at me and smirked. He was probably just ignoring me. I ran closer to him and yelled,” Aren’t we going to have breakfast?” I quickened my pace to walk by his side but a small hand swung out and hit me in the face. I saw it coming, and I could have dodged it but I wasn’t expecting any hostility whilst in the village. The hand possessed a lot more power than it looked; it knocked me back and onto the floor. I rubbed my eyes and adjusted my vision. It was Maya’s hand.
“Didn’t I tell you to hurry up?” for no apparent reason he started running, really fast. For an old man he sure was full of surprised. I uprooted myself onto my feet and started to run after him. He had forgotten that I had a few surprises of my own.
