Chapter Two: The Rapture!
Everybody had disappeared, everyone except eight other students. They all looked at me as if I was crazy. They had not yet realized that more than half of the class had disappeared. That’s when I understood that there was something far more bizarre taking place behind me. I swiftly turned round to observe this for myself. The rock was glowing: blinding, florescent blue light. My eyes felt like they were going blind, yet somehow the burning I was expecting felt bearable. “What’s going on?” I heard a voice shriek from behind me, “What’s going on?” I wanted to turn away and run but I couldn’t. I was trapped. No matter how hard I tried my body simply would not obey. After a few seconds, a darker light started seeping from the rock. I didn’t understand how but it was a darkness that possessed the ability to shine. It began to spread, engulfing the blue light and finally taking its place, slowly spreading...closer...and closer to me. I was helpless. Eventually the darkness had engulfed the room, taking me and what was left of my class with it.It felt strange; there was an eerie sense of nothingness all around me. No up, no down. I was standing, yet I could not see any foundation supporting me. I had become a floating ball of unconsciousness just drifting in an empty space. I was all alone, no one would ever find me, and not because I didn't know where I was, but because I just knew that there was nobody left to find me. “Arc!” I heard a loud yet distant call. I suddenly felt a surge of hope overcome me: I wasn't alone. “Arc!” I heard the voice again. I tried to answer but I didn't know how to. I started to panic. If I couldn't talk, no one would ever find me. My hope began to dwindle. Feelings of despair and loneliness radiated around me. I had giving up on hope, but hope hadn't given up on me.
I small light pierced the darkness that had engulfed me. “Arc!” I heard the voice again, but this time is was closer. “Arc!” It kept repeating, getting louder and louder, closer and closer, and with every sound, the light spread, eradicating the demonic darkness and restoring hope once again. Soon the darkness was gone and I was completely surrounded by the light. My body felt warm and at peace. I didn’t understand what was happening, but right now it felt good and that’s all that mattered.
