Chapter Thirty: Midnight Training!
It was strangely ironic that the last lesson I had was science. Luckily, we had just finished learning all of the physics section so I knew everything I needed to know. Miss Onzaen always told us that energy is never created or destroyed it is only transferred. I remembered also learning about the way forces work. Tonight, I was going to put that theory into action.

I stood my ground in the middle of the space I had and relaxed my legs. I didn’t want anything to go wrong like last time. I closed my eyes and gathered a little energy round my legs. This caused my muscles to tense a little. I imagined what would happen if I was to release this energy. I wanted to jump but not just an ordinary jump a super energy charged jump. Once I had finalised my ideas I let go of the energy. It felt like I was jumping but I was travelling much higher than I usually did. Gusts of air cascaded around my body, sometimes I felt like my body was going to crumble because of the pressure but I slowly adjusted. I practised constantly until I could effortlessly control the amount of energy I projected into my legs. Soon I was jumping high enough to touch the canopy. I’d never felt so felt alive. Every time I travelled up, I stretched my hand towards the sky each time my hand got closer and closer.

I had to be a little careful when landing. I had to release the energy I had gained whilst falling slowly back into the ground. My body was stronger but falling from such heights could still do some damage. After another hour of practising, I could effortlessly jump high enough to just skim my hand on the leaves on top of the trees and I could lower the resistance around me when I landed but the ground beneath me still cracked when I landed. I stopped to take a break; I could clearly see the progress I was making. I glanced up at the trees and wondered to myself,” could I ever jump so high than I could break through the leaves that halted me from dancing with the ravishing purple sky,” perhaps it was beyond me but there was no harm in trying.

I walked to a giant tree root and sat on top of it to rest. Hundreds of little insects crawled around me and into the root of the tree, perhaps they felt threatened my by presence. I went on all fours and peered into a small hole that all the insects had gathered in. I was amused by the hundreds of eyes that glared up me in fear, but that’s when I realised that they weren’t afraid of me.
