Chapter Twenty-Eight: God Candidate!
 Maya once told me that everyone who was a God Candidate could connect with their surrounding like I could, some better than other, but not many of them could synch with other life forms like I could. That made me special, but all God Candidates were special each in their own way. He said that everyone had a natural ability that was unique to them. I now knew that others could connect with their environment but I was the only one who could sync. He told me that he knew of previous God Candidates that he had come across who could manipulate certain elements without a weapon. Weapons enhanced their special ability but without them they could create large ripples in water or create small sparks of fire some could move small rocks and some could even control air currents. Others had physical advantages. Just as I could run extremely fast others could lift large rocks or shoot targets from miles away. It was as if everyone had some kind of special power that they possessed naturally. They just had to discover them.

Maya said some could even control light and darkness, the weather, plants, speak with animals, make lightning or even manipulate their body. At first I was worried, finding out that my ability was unique but so was everyone else was frightening, but I was special. One in one thousand might be able to aim well or control an element but one in ten billion could sync like I could. Maybe they could tame animals but they couldn’t actually become part of the life form like I could. No one could see through the eyes of other beings or calm their hearts, no one but me.

He also taught me about weapons and how they work. Apparently, when God Candidates arrive they must search around for their weapon. It usually takes a year to do this because weapons are actually living beings. Maya told me that God Candidates had to earn the respect of the creature and when it accepted them as their master they would connect and the being would give up their soul and give them their power. When this happened the soul manifests differently depending on the God Candidate it fuses with. Some creatures are more powerful and rarer than other which means they are more difficult to earn. Usually, half the population is killed off just because of this. He said that if you didn’t earn the trust of the creature, it would try to kill you, one in two God Candidates do not earn this trust the first time and almost all of them die if they fail.
